I saw one this morning too. I was at the local MB dealer doing my usual Sunday walk around just to see whats new on the lot and a guy in GL450 pulled up. He obviously worked for Mercedes is some way because the GL he was driving had MFR (manufacturer) plates on it. The GL is now in my mind the best looking of the Bama triplets. Big, sleek, elegant and the engine sounded good too when he pulled off with some verve. The GL is going to be a hit, but at what expense to the ML and already struggling R-Class?

Followed a pewter GL450 down from Winter Park, CO to Denver this afternoon. Its plate was from CO and had 6/06 as the stickers in the corners. Weird. It was from the MB dealership in Littleton.

I'm going to look at a black on at the other MB dealership here on Monday. Saw it today on the lot. Black on black. Looks great too.

That is Littleton's demo model, they got it Thursday. Drives very nice, it is much better then the 2006 ML. We ordered ours after driving it Saturday. It prices out about like our 2006 ML did. Cool thing is that the rear camera is only $500, figured it would be more.

I was told today that the first cameras will be on builds starting last week of July or first week of August, but the date is not locked in yet.

Can those of us that can't wait go ahead and get the car now and retro fit the rearview camera later?

Love your signature, does the GL450 replaced the ML430?

I have the same question. I just ordered mine without this as the camera won't be available until late July or Aug. (can't wait that long hehehe)

The GL will replace both ML's. We kept the 430 because it has 3rd row seats and has tow package, the 500 has neither. We found the 500 just too small at times, the GL is a perfect fit.

Hey guys,

I would double check this one very closely. The reason I say this is from my own experience.

I bought a CPO 2003 c240 wagon from MB of Anchorage and was told by the salesman that adding the ski bag after the purchase was no problem.

It ended up taking 4 months to get it installed.

The dealer was great about being honest with me about the hold ups and giving me a loaner car for the whole duration, but they highly recommended that in the future I get all options installed from the factory on a brand new vehicle.

I won't try to retrofit anything from Mercedes again.

Instead, I will order any option that I "might" want with the new vehicle and have it all available from the first day it is delivered.

Hope this helps save some of you from getting in the situation I was in and eliminates any aggravation you might have to go through later on with your GL.
