PE Running Boards
Which dealer did you order the PE running board from? Also, what's the part number and price?

The GL seems to be off to a big start, much moreso than the R was, can't wait to see the sales numbers this month!
The GL is actually the best looking of the three Bama-built Benzes too.
Mercedes would be wise to offer those PE wheels as a regular option too, they look so much better than those.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
As for the PE wheels, they areavailable in the MB options catalogue. I would suggest 19's or 20's.....the wheel arches on this car and it's sheer size are so big that 18's look small.
Although, G-wagens come with 18's even on the 55 and they suit, maybe it is the wheel design that is offered with the GL. Actually, if you want to stay with 18's you could just look for G500 rims on e-bay.
When i siat in a GL i think the dashboard is 100% identical to ML do you think it is possible to install a leather dash from gl to ML?
They may just have a slight tilt function...... Could hcden clarify?
The dvd screens sits perfectly where they are. It tilts few degrees up and down for correct viewing angle. Its sturdy and matched perfectly with the seats and color of the interior. It also has the feature of auto adjust for day and night mode so screen remains clear. These screens are very clear and sharp unlike those typical after market screen that ive seen. Plus the 7.1 sound rocks the house for any action movies.
No definite time yet on PE running boards. No big deal for that as this GL sits lower for easy entry exit. Its just for cosmetics but I will surely install it.
Love the keyless go. You dont need to pull the handle (like CLS). Instead, just place the hand and the motion sensor attached inside the handle will open it. It will auto lock in 40 secs if not opened.
Multi-contour seats are the best. They have many adjustments, even side bolsters. Really comfortable for long trips.
Active xenons lights seems to have more degrees of movement compare to CLS. Tight corners are fully illuminated. Very nice.
No AUX Ipod input in the glove compartment. AUX is assigned for rear entertainment. I have an extra DVD player attached to the aux input below 2nd row for 2 different movies. (headphones required at that point)
3 zone climate works great. All 3 of us (wife + 1 kid) have different settings. We usually fold 2nd row and have them sit in 3rd row for maximum knees and personal space.
However, ride is bit jiggly than what I anticipated. Maybe jiggly is not the term but I can't find the right description or words. I think my range rover rides much better. Tire pressure are right. I don't know why. Does Airmatic rubber requires break in time? Feels like suspension reaction is slow on continous pavement imperfection. I mean continous, not just few because it has no problem soaking few here and there.
Thought spare tire is full size. Its not.
Materials were top notch inside and out. Don't know why some base models that I drove were not like this. Im not talking about the mbtex. My friends didnt like the materials of the base overall but they admitted this one is top notch. Seems like the base were constructed of different level of craftmasnship.
1. Ambient lighting--is it possible to capture what this actually is in a picture. I've never heard it explained.
2. Standard seating is "leather seating inserts" as it is stated on MBUSA. On my testdrive this weekend, the dealer stated that the leather seats option adds leather only to the sides of the seats, and that the quality of the leather is the same as the base version. Could someone confirm this? Also, does the $1650 leather/wood/ambient option change the quality of the MBTex or leather on the dash?
Thanks!
Look in the W221 S-Class thread - I posted some pics of the ambient lighting there very early on (4 to 6 months ago?).
Also, I believe that Nevada Jack posted a couple of his new S with the ambient lighting on as well.
You may find decent enough ambient lighting pics on sights like Automobile, Serious Wheels, EMercedes.com, and Edmunds, etc.....
