X164 GL-Class Unofficial Picture Thread

Although the black exterior looks spectacular on the GL, I'm not sure about the black interior, which is why I didn't fight harder for the Black/Black GL550 the dealer had on the lot when I bought my Pewter GL. To me, Black on Black is like driving in a coal mine
. You also lose out on some of the nice two-tone work that MB does in the interior with their Brown/Tan variants. The S550 looks awesome with the Cashemere interior color. It's a wonderful contrast to the black exterior, and it's not so bright that it washes out the interior. If the GL came with that color available I would've been all over it.
We walked through acres of lots until we found the S550 with the Cashmere. It was worth it
.The dealer had a pewter when I bought. It is a very nice color...a top choice for me for sure had I not picked black!
As far as your S550...I think one of the nicest color combos on any car is a black ext and light tan/ivory interior. So classy!
The S550 is up to about 20K miles now... loving every bit of it.
I am really taking a liking to the GL - it has presence. I think that is what MB went with when designing this generations versions of cars (X164, W221, the new C Class, the new M Class, etc)
Happy Holidays to you too

The sharpness is the result of the Canon lenses. This was shot with the EF-S 17-55mm, f/2.8 with Image Stabilization (Canon uses the lens for IS, not the camera body.) This lens, although not a L Series is about as good as they come. I also use a masking technique in PS to sharpen the edges which is really effective.
This particular shot (as well as the one with the GL) was done with 3 exposures (one under, one over and one normal) and then blended in a HDR program to create a high dynamic range which provides detail in both highlight and shadow areas. I am just learning how to use the HDR technique but I like what I see so far.
Here is one more...
