X164 GL-Class Unofficial Picture Thread
. Didn't see your location in your profile. Maybe at our next GL meet your white 550 can provide the contrast

The images you want to post must be posted on a web site like Zenfolio or your own site if you have one. Open the image you want to post in a new window and copy the URL.
On the posting page you will see the Yellow Box for Insert Image. Click on that and in the box that pops up, Paste the URL you copied to this area. Click Okay and the image locations will be in the posting box with attached to the location info. Preview the post and it should show your full image in the post.
You can also use the URL of an image and type the img info as above.
Hope this is clear.

It's too bad the MB website does not have images like this rather than their little pages of nothingness. I know they are redesigning the site so hopefully the MY 2009 will bring about some improvement.
As for the camera in the car and the MB USA site, all I can say is it's probably a bad idea to have a camera in your car these days when you're picking up your kid from school, or the camera'd be in my car most of the time as well. And MBUSA really, really aught to look at some of the stuff you've posted here as "beauty shots" for their site. Seriously. I don't know if you're retired "officially" but you should be taking photos for a local magazine or stock houses or something, because you've got a hell of an eye for it, my friend.

You are very generous in your praise of my images and I appreciate that. MB has photographers that can do anything with a camera... it is the designers and marketers who just don't get it. Renditions, close-ups and other commercial images are needed for the brochures, but on the web they should have images of good size and have them available for desktop downloads. The same damn images they posted when the GL was released are there and they show interiors of 2004 E class and other models rather than update. They are either a lazy bunch or they have no idea how to deal with todays methods of buying a car... "it's the web stupid" to paraphrase a successful slogan! End of rant... I think...:-)
As far as being "officially retired" you might say I am. I retired from the Navy in 1971 and from my civilian career in 1987. Have not done a days work since! 21 years and counting....:-)
Oh...I did do some work... sold boats and yachts off and on...but I don't really consider that work...

It's time that your baby grew up. Bring that bad boy back to Colorado so I can introduce you to some dirt roads and mess up that beautiful finish. Snowed today in the mountains above 9,500 ft. That should do the trick quite nicely too. I'd actually be quite happy if I could just dirty up your treads to be quite frank.

I swear, it's hard to believe that we took delivery on the same day. Yours still looks like it just left the showroom, whereas mine looks like it never knew what a showroom looked like.
