GL on Pike's Peak

Took our GL to the top of Pike's Peak and got some memorable (if low quality) pix. Forgot to take pic of altimeter until we were down to 12,800 ft (from 14,100).

Great pictures! Low quality, whatever, as long as you have pics.

How did the brakes do?

I never really hit the brakes on the way down. I just alternated between 1st and 2nd gears and coasted along.

So basically engine braking?

That's right. I tried DSR, but 10 mph (its fastest setting) was too slow. Cruise control can be set at 20, and it will use engine braking to stay at 20, but that was too fast for the frequent hairpins. So I just used the steering wheel buttons and changed from 1st to 2md all the way down.
At the halfway point, an inspector checks the brakes with an infrared thermometer. He checked mine twice.

That's cool. Glad to hear that people are actually checking your brakes so you don't go rolling off a cliff.
