Blue Smoke

Has anyone noticed blue smoke out of exhaust during the first start? This has happened twice so far. The GL has 3600 miles so far. Hopefully the valves seals are slow to seal.

Nope, only seen it twice. Only happened during start. Both times, cleared up in a few seconds.

Not concerned at all. My 2006 997S cab burns 2 quarts of Mobil 1 in 5k miles and that is considered to be a little less than average.

2007 S550
It happened to me today on my '07 S550, with about 500 miles on it. First time it happened, after it had sat a few minutes after being moved. We'll see if it comes up again. Hopefully at that mileage it just isn't broken in yet and the rings are letting oil seep by. According to the manual, high oil consumption is normal when the car is still new.

I have an S550 with 4600 miles on it. It has happened about 5 times. The quantity of smoke is quite a lot. I mean you can see it from the rear view mirror. It always happens at first start.

I took it to MB West Palm Beach. They ran diagnostics on it. No problem. No oil loss, seals perfect. They said that there are several sensors on the S class that can detect problems and this is normal. However they declined to say if such quantity of smoke is normal. I still feel it is weird for an S Class to give out such a large amount of smoke. It almost feels as if it is a beat up old diesel, even though it happens so infrequently.

I've not experienced any smoke but I've already burned through 3 quarts of oil in less then 2300 miles. Calling dealer tomorrow to see if this is "normal."
