how much was your dealer deposit?..
plan on purchasing/financing the 320 cdi...i have a chicago dealer whose asking a $2000 deposit....is this in the same ballpark with your deposits?..2007 acura mdx deposit was $500 ?

I also had to put down $2000 in the Chicago area. When I told them it seemed excessive, I got two answers: 1) Some people order from multiple dealers and then buy whichever car arrives first, leaving the other dealers holding a custom-ordered car. Putting down $2000 seems to discourage this practice. 2) $2000 on a $60k+ car is a small percentage of the total price
As a point of reference, I only put $500 on a $55K SLK350 3 years ago with the same dealership. Sounds like they got burned one too many times on new models.

My dealer did not want any deposit, but i do have a long-standing relationship with them...however, i did also order the R-class 18 months ago and refused delivery b/c the price was too out of whack...

The deposit is at the dealer' discression... My dealer originally wanted 2K up front and then another 3K once the Purchase Order was issued. They changed their minds later and said that the 2K was just fine.
I guess they change it based on the feeling they get from you when you place the order. I had shopped around quite a bit (AZ, NM, TX and NV) and made no secret of this to my dealer. I guess they were worried that I would order several places, but then decided that I was a cool cat.

I customed ordered an ML in October that comes in at 56k and change all I had to put downe was a one hundred dollar refundable deposit. I have a long time relationship with this salesman and dealership. He didnt want me to make any kind of deposit but the finance manager insisted that I leave something so my guy said just give me one hundred to make the finance manager happy
