GL Child Pacification System Options
Now I have seen both the factory-installed and dealer-installed DVD systems and both are inferior to what can be had in a suburban (airconditioners, cup holders and distractions are things Americans still do best...).
The factory version does not have wireless headsets, per my understanding. Also, the player is under the seat in the back making it impossible to reach from the front and difficult from the back.
The dealer option has a screen that is too low and ugly.
I am going to get the 3rd zone climate package so I think that will make it difficult to install an aftermarket option (which also has inherent cheesiness anyway).
I gotta have a DVD player so I'll go with the least of the evils...
To that end, can anyone help with these questions?:
1) Who has a DVD system in their GL and what do you see as its pro's and con's?
2) has anyone put an aftermarket DVD player in a GL with the 3rd zone climate package. What did you use, how did you do it, what did it cost and are you happy with it?

i've got the factory system (wired headphones for kids don't make me want to cry-they are KIDS after all, and i didn't have movies at all when i was coming along)...decided that when i need third row entertainment, i'm going to buy 2 more video ipods, which will likely be better for them anyway (no fighting)...

DVD in headrests don't play separate movies simultaneously but should. Headphones should be wireless but you can get aftermarket. I agree that you should be able to switch out movies where the NAV disc goes. Don't get the Suburban.

Wires won't bother my daughter but it bugs me that other manufacturers can manage wireless. Wires are not the end of the world but they are something to get tangled up and yanked on.

If i'm note mistaken, with a separate source plugged into the DVD player, you CAN watch separate movies on the two screens.
