76,975.
That's not too far from my guesstimate...
Now if I add my options:
RSE 2K+
Door Sills 500
Tint 700
Bluetooth hookup 700
76975 + Options estimate (3900) = 80875 pre tax
Post tax at 8 1/4 would be wopping total of 87,547...
That's one pretty penny for a special MB..
Now I guess "Ya Gotta pay if ya wanna play".
Maybe the dealer could be brought down on some of dealer installed stuff... Just don't have the time to do this stuff aftermarket (ie front window tint really could be done for max 200 aftermarket)....
Well I'll get back to work now since reality is gotta work to pay for this nice stuff...
Still "Waiting-4-550"... But now thinking where's the deal!!!
Those MB people are sure smart when it comes to sales.... Gave me what I wanted and I'm giving them what they want --- the bocu USD $$$

Also, are you planning to add the KeyLess Go feature? It really is a pleasure to use. I think that adds another $1110 or so...:-) They don't come cheap do they...:-)

Insullated Glass
I note the "Blue Tinted Windows" feature on the GL550, but does anyone (GL Fahrer) know if with the 3 Zone A/C system, will the windows also be "insulated laminated glass" like the other GL's with the 3 zone?

Heah Board,
I had to forgo keyless go since wanted earliest production date.. The vehicle I'm getting will be produced on 8/21 and had other more important features for me - most important being black on black color.. This 8/21 truck could not be changed since it is with a very early production date.. It was one of the 20 or so GL550's the dealer was getting that was still available.. Anyway, keyless not a big deal fro me.. Have keyless system on my BMW 750LI and the novelty wears off pretty quick... Actually if you stop taking out your keys and don't insert them in the dash this becomes a problem with valet and car washes which I use frequently.. Gotta have valet service at upscale places and gotta wash the car weekly... I'm kinda of a car fanatic.. Spending 80K on a truck should support this statement..
As for the tint - I want to tint the front windows to make the car windows flow better - might be best to have dealer do this so they can best match blue tint color.. Local tint shop will likely give black tint which would obviously clash with blue tint to the car afficionadoes like myself

Order Moved Up!
Received a voicemail from my rep today that my 550 build date has been moved up a whole month! Now, my build is supposed to be the 1st 10 days of August.
I'll be looking forward to seeing that B3 code turn into a B4 in a couple of weeks hopefully!

Talked with Stumblefoot via email last night and the message he got may be in error from his rep. He is checking the accuracy of the "ramp up" and I am sure will post something when he hears from him today...hopefully.

Order Update
Sorry for the delay folks. Tied up in meetings all day in Nashville and got to enjoy a 3 hour delay tonight in the airport, before arriving in Chicago.
Picked up an email from my rep tonight and he confirms my order has been moved up to the 1st decade of August. That's a full month earlier than planned.
Keep your fingers crossed.

SF I'm envious.. you're getting early delivery.. Maybe the 80-90K price for the GL550 is scaring away most of the SUV market.. These things are gonna be road gems just like the Range Rovers on the road.. I think the GL550 owners are going to be an elite group.. You know the kind that travel on business, make lots of moola, and run industries... Being an MB person is a special and un-ordinary thing.. As a group we're the it people!

You can uncross your fingers. My rep now informs me my truck won't be built until 1st decade of September. No reason given and of course the standard statement "this is all tentative at this point" was also included.
I gotta be honest here... the MB buying process is no better than Chevy. Very frustrating for a vehicle that costs 3x as much. My expectations are pretty easy... keep me informed and provide accurate information.
It's been a yo-yo since I placed my deposit back in April. Remember, my dealership is the same as NJ's and I was told when I placed my deposit that I would be getting their first 550. Not only have they received their first 550 and it isn't mine, there are now at least 6 others in front of me according to the last inventory report that was faxed to me.
Sorry for the venting... I'm just frustrated.

I don't know why dealers tell folks they'll get the first this or the first that, why people expect to get the first one of anything mass produced. Salesmen have no idea what other salesmen have promised and at the end of the day the really just say that to make you buy or put down a deposit in the first place. Kinda silly really. MBUSA can't do anything about it either. The first CLK63 Black Series I can see, but a GL550 no way, they're making/selling to many of them.

For me, it's the difference between what a commitment means to me in the way I run my business versus how car dealers run theirs. When I tell a client something, they expect me to deliver on those commitments. If I don't, their business goes elsewhere. Hmmmm... maybe that's why there is no loyalty in the car business... can't trust most of what they say.
All-in-all, it's no big deal. Most all of them are the same. I just didn't expect a luxury brand like MB to be like all the others (Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, etc.). It certainly wasn't the case with Audi when we bought our A6. In fact, if the Q7 met our needs, I would switch in a heartbeat. It doesn't, which is why loyalty has two components that impacts the buying decision; results (i.e. the product) and relationship (i.e. the dealer/manufacturer).

When the General Manager shakes your hand and tells you that you will get the first one that arrives at their dealership, I believe that individual is telling me the truth. I never expected to get the first 550 produced. I did expect to get the first 550 that arrived at the dealer though. I guess in the end I am just to trusting and accept that as fact.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing picks when you get your GL550. I haven't seen one yet, but I'll check it out next time I go for service.
