MSRP for 550 to be under 80K would be tough. But, hey, crazier things have been known to happen.
Not sure if anyone noticed or not but this is the longest (most replies) thread on the GL forum.

Personally, I like the front on my 450 better, but the front of the 550 wouldn't keep me from buying one. The front of the 550 is noticably bigger.

Yeah, I think it's very classy looking with the darker Burl especially with the Burl wood sterring wheel as well. It makes for a nice subtle contrast to the brighter Macademia leather. I have had many compliments on my interior.

Heah guys
As for my price guess.. Gotta be positive about life.. Why not 75K as base price, stranger things in life happen.. Maybe MB realizes that there customers are sick of being nickle and dimed and just came up with a loaded GL price with a few extra perks and dosen't want to take advantage of its customers.. At 75K many customers would go with 550 over the 450 with extra charge for evry little option.. We Americans expect our luxury cars loaded and MB likely knows this.. Instead of selling GL's for an average of 68K why not get 75K out of the customers, given them what they want, make even more money and smile at year end when profits rise.. I think 75K is a brialliant price and believe MB understands my logic.. 80K plus would just scare away too many buyers and load up dealer lots.. Don't see too many 100K AMG MB variants on road.. Why?? Just because it's too far from logical... When's the last time you saw a V12 AMG S class on road?? Maybe never.. How about those loaded S 550's.. Oh there everywhere... Why 100K vs 150+K.. 100K is fancy enough for most..

MB is not afraid to price their top of the line models at prices which shock us all. Look at the S63/65, the E63 wagon and sedan, the SLK's, CLK's and other AMG models. The new GL550 will be the unofficial AMG level GL and will be priced accordingly. I am sure they are looking at pre-orders and licking their lips in the accounting department. As far as taking advantage of its customers, in the pricing area they have done it for years whether it be parts, service or options. I love 'em but....

Keepin It Going
I'm betting there will be an AMG GL called something like GL63 and that will undoubtedly be about 100K.. As for GL550 I'm only willing to up my estimate to 80K for list price... Max 85K with addition of few available options.. Gotta leave a pricing window for AMG variant which should surface just like it did for ML SUV.... In next few weeks price will be out and we will all know the truth... 75K would be real nice but obviously wouldn't make a difference in savings account in the long run...

Amg
NJ... bad arguement on wheels... Many MB's offer AMG wheels and still another super AMG version.. Example... SL 550 has AMG option on base SL550 or you can drop even more beans and get SL55 AMG version... Touche! NJ are you an attorney who just loves to argue any point??

No AMG
If indeed there is no AMG for GL then my GL550 will be top of the line.. Pretty nice.. Maybe I'll get to have bragging rights for a while..

Since you are a Newbie I was trying to respond (not argue) to your opinion that the GL will have a AMG variant (as posted by GL Fahrer.)
I really don't try to create conflict on this forum or any forum. I respond with my opinion and knowledge that I have on the MB line of automobiles.

I don't have any industry knowledge or even a crystal ball, but I'm sure hoping for the existence of the GL63 in about 3-4 years when the new car bug hits me again. It would also be nice if it had a panorama roof and ventilated dynamic multicontour seats.
While I'm at it, I wouldn't mind seeing a SWB S63 in the States.

No harm, no foul
Will definitely not be rude in future notes.. Like this forum and the info that's associated. Just got a letter back from MBUSA that says all technical info on 2008 GL will be available on MBUSA.com by the end of the month. This will answer many of the questions and concerns that have been surfacing for us interested people... They also sent me a nice picture of GL550... what a beauty!! Big grill and big tires make for a big prescensce.. Doubt I'll regret this purchase and shellin out extra clams... But remember my bet is still 75K list and being a reader of "The Secret" I'll remain steadfast on that so that my wishes become reality..

If you have a scanner could you scan the image MBUSA sent you and post here? If you can't post it, email it to me using PM and I will post on a web site and then post here.

If one remembers to use the "law of attraction" then all is possible.. 75K is not an unbelievable price

It's getting hotter
Here it comes.. My research shows pricing to be out next week of 7/16. Probably Monday!!! So keep posted.. Likely to be close to 75K.. Not too surprised... This is what my dealer actually told me at time of order... Think this will be one hot MB and not easy to find for at least another couple of months... Glad I put my order when I did! Too bad it won't be in early enough for a roadtrip with wife and kids this summer.. Oh well there's early fall places too..."secret"

Im not really sure if this adds anything other than what is already know but my dealer just sent me this:
The unique styling of the GL 550 adds visual emphasis to this model's
special status and also addresses the U.S. Mercedes-Benz customers' wish
for vehicles with an even greater degree of exclusivity and a strong,

dominant radiator grille serves as a visual idiom for the exceptional

assertive look is complemented with the flared fenders, impressive
21-inch AMG wheels and running boards. From the rear, this vehicle can
be easily identified by its redesigned split-chrome exhaust tailpipes
which add further emphasis to its powerful character.

Not flaming you, soccerg201. Just venting my frustration at MB. Why would you build a flagship vehicle and not design all options for it?

I don't see the ADSII on this latest list of "standard features." Wasn't that supposed to be a standard feature? I wrote to MBUSA about that being an option (without the ORP) on the ML and asked why it was not available on the '07 GL450 or 320. I received the standard reply indicating "we know better what buyers want..." That would be an oversight for this vehicle I think. I wonder if they have decided it will be an option only with the ORP?
Maybe it is in the P2 Package???
