Oknish, how did you get that Graphite color you like on the web-site? I saw your post with BYO, but pardon my ignorance... the only thing I know about the acronym BYO is "Bring Your Own"... and in my case it's usually beer.

In the "Build Your Own" page the Designo Graphite is available to select on some models shown on the crappy little pictures. Hard to telll anything from that.

That is so true....you can hardly tell from looking at the web page. I had seen that color on cars on road so I could tell what it looked like in real life. IMO, one of the best colors out there.

Well, around here, as jpeardm pointed out it stands for Build Your Own on MBUSA site. Look under E class for the color. Pics on the site don't do it justice though.

Car and Driver.com has some good photos of the GL550 in Verde Brook. It's a pretty good representation of the color. Click on "photo gallery" to the right of the photo.

Thanks Taz. I had seen those pictures before, but didn't realize they were of the Verde Brooke. They certainly look more green than brown in those pics.

Take Care.

It totally depends on the time of day/light quality/etc. Sometimes it looks very olive...sometimes more brown. IMHO, i think it's a really pretty color...and very unique, not any other cars out there the same color really.

Many have described Verde as a dark olive drab.

Box, when you put it that way so eloquently, I don't know if I "dig it" anymore. Although, as Taz says, it is certainly very unique.

Hope to see one up close and personal sometime before making my final decision.

Verde is weird to me. I saw one when I was shopping and it looked really light green under fluorscent lights on dealer's floor. Now when I see them on road they look any where between dark Olive drab to shiny speckled dark green

There's that word again. I can't imagine driving a "drab" vehicle. Although, I must admit, drab would have to be better than "shiny, speckled".

Believe it or not, when I heard "drab" mentioned more than once, I began to start not liking the color. It was a mental thing...

I swear this GL550 is taking forever to arrive in USA. It seems retarded, I kinda hope that the ride would be better then the GL450 and hopefully they make everything on the GL550 better then the 450 seems it's more expensive.

Considering it's an '08 model, it doesn't bother me that the build dates don't start until August. However, I sure wish MBUSA would nail down the specs and option packages, along with pricing. With a deposit down on the first one allocated to Westminster MB, I'm anxious to see what it'll have, as well as, what it's going to cost me.

Hang in there!

You may want to double check the build date since I have heard that 550 build start in July with mid to late August delivery to dealers. I am pretty certain that pricing/option list/etc. won't be public till at least mid July. Of course, I could be wrong

It will be exactly like the 450, only a bigger engine. IMO, the ride in the GL is excellent for an SUV - try a Navi/Expi/Lade and you'll see what I mean.

There is a possibility that the 550 could have the ADSII system as standard or as a stand-alone option or certainly as part of the Off Road Pkg Option.

It will be interesting to see what MBUSA screws up on the GL550 package. I understand the bean counters have already deleted the Multi-Contour seat option in '08...a big mistake!

Oknish... when I placed my deposit back in April was told by Westminster MB that their 550's were scheduled for production during the first 1/3rd of the month of August and to expect delivery in September. I'll see if anything has changed when I call them for an update next week. As you can tell after putting a deposit down 7 weeks ago, I'm gettin' rather anxious for more details.

MY2008 GL320 CDI & GL450 will have Distronic available, GL550 will not.

MY2008 450 will have Off Road package available, 320 CDI & 550 will not

Where are you getting this detailed information from? Is it printed somewhere or is this verbal from a sales rep?

Gl I hope you are getting bad info.............I mean, the top of the line 550 WILL NOT have distronic available following all this logic......if you want the off-road pack. you MUST order the 450 but then you can't have the premium seats.........if you want multicontor seats you MUST order the 550 but then you can't have distronic or the off-road I'm sure glad I got my 07 450 with all of that minus the distronic.........in otherwords, exactly what I wanted. Come on MB........!

Okay GL Driver, it looks like you have the detailed information that nobody else has. Where have you been able to find it? Please share all of the details as you know them.

It seems odd to me that the 550 won't have the off-road package. I can't imagine upgrading to the 550 and not being able to take into the back woods. Also, why in the world would MB not put the Distronic on the 550? That truly seems bizarre.

Looking forward to seeing your complete 550 information.

Where, oh where, has little Peej gone? Oh where, oh where could he be? He promised a full spec list and options too, but today we wonder where he could be.

Just an FYI - all the information I have spouted so far, came from Netstar with me looking at it with my own eyes. When a GL 550 is selected, only colors, interrior colors and a few options (see image in my previous post in this thread) show up. There are no packages (P1, P2, etc.) visible.

There is a new P2 package available with 450 and details can be seen in Netstar.
