B5 is production complete, VIN usually comes assigned during B4 in the paint shop. The car starts in stamping, then body weld, then paint... thats where it gets the VIN.
This is because of production controls decides what to run, and the buffers between shops.

Actually, Jack, I was referring to the fact that your picture is gone! I was hoping that didn't vanish along with your delivery.

Just got my computer activated up here in the "wilds of Vermont"............was hoping to log in and see that some you "waiters" were no longer waiting
It was just short of 500 miles up here and the GL was a dream .........just shy of 20 miles per gallon! Cruised at 65 to 75....couple "bursts" up to 90! Still think I might have a bit of a front wheel balance problem but...........all systems functioning perfectly! I have to travel an old logging road for the last 3 miles so Capri Blue is now "a'la mud!" Love that 7 speed trans.!

Some update
Me and my Brother In law had ordered exact same trucks same day with same dealership. We got same build dates (apr27) and then same status update S42 (Train port yada yada..) He just received a call from dealer that his truck just arrived.
He is picking it up tomorrow
Mine, still no show 
. I am hoping it is here tomorrow so that i could pick it up next week

I am convinced no one knows what the codes mean...:-) I have heard from two different sources that Vance B4 means build is complete??? Frankly all I want to hear is that it is on a train and headed west...it is two weeks past the build date and was on a "parts hold". The status changed on Wednesday to B4...but still no VIN # available.

Interesting. Well I can tell you B5 def means production complete. B4 means production has begun... in Vance world that can take forever. Bremen and sindelfingen are much better for timing, Vance is a joke. Not to mention that marshalling yard is a mess.
Lets see if my Lexus comes in on time

Late this afternoon my rep notified me we have a VIN number for my GL320CDI...
Truck was built to specs with all options requested...no deletes (which happened with some S orders.)
Next is trying to get a shipping schedule from Vance to Denver by train...rep said it normally takes about two weeks or so from the time it hits B4.

Congrats Jack. I remember your adventures dating back to the pending R class. Hope you take that black? (thought you were getting white) beauty on some way out there back roads and put your Canon to good use. I am waiting for the results that are certain to be spectacular.

Hi Nevada, I have the sills on my GL450 and they do look great at night. They are a bit shorter in length than I expected but no big deal. They are a nice accessory. Good luck with your delivery!
