Are there any dealer incentives on the GL?
Hi,
As some of us are going to pick-up their new GL's soon, including myself, I'm checking to see whether there are any GL dealer incentives for the months of April or May in the US. May will probably be announced May 1st.
I checked edmunds.com and found none on there for the current month.
Any thoughts guys?

I am not aware of any current cash incentives/marketing support. The only other incentives are discounted interest rates and lease deals that are listed on the Edmunds site.

I would not expect any great discounts on the GL450 because the GL550 is coming out. Based on what I have read on this site and other sites the GL550 is coming with alot of things as standard equipment which are optional on the GL450. My guess is that the base GL550's are going to be in the high 70's low 80's versus mid 50's for the GL450. If this is the case, I think the GL450 will remain in the model lineup and will fill a void for those who like the car but don't have $80,000 to spend on it. Just my opinion.......

2007 GL 320 CDI, 2008 M5
drove an R class for two months...
I drove an R class for two months while my GL 320 was being built. There's a lot to like about it. It has very comforatble seats and it is easy to see out of as long as you are looking forward. The iPod integration was cool, as it is in the GL.
The rear doors are HUGE and allow easy entry. The rear area is cavernous as long as you put the rear seats down, which fold flush to the floor.
Negatives: Looks like a big suppository, is underpowered and uses too much gas, has a huge blind spot out of the back. Sits too close to the ground. Looks too much like a Pacifica or other family mommy hauler.
But what the hell, I got to drive one free for two months.....

I just got back from the dealership and noticed the May lease rates aren't as favorable as last month. The car I was looking at went up 40 dollars, but they agreed to sell it to me for the price that was quoted in April.
Just an FYI for those looking to lease...

MBF adjusted many of the leases to peak at 33 months. That's random. So yes the previously promoted 39 month lease special will be higher than before. BTW the Residual Value stayed the same, and the Money Factor went down, so technically it's better, just for a different term.

Most likely...
I found one that has most of the options I want...Premium, Xenons, Sunroof. Only thing I wish it has is Keyless Go, but I can live without it. For me, the most important option is Xenons and Premium, but I'm looking to see what kind of deal I can strike on this car.
And finally, I'm deciding between this GL 450 or a Range Rover Sport. But the GL leases out better, and the Rover isn't worth an extra $150 a month to me.

Yup...I usually plan ahead and order a car before my lease is up, but I didn't really think about the GL until I got to drive one last week. Originally, I was going to pick up the new MDX until the dealer here in Hawaii was asking 4k over MSRP! He cited its a hot SUV right now and can't keep them in-stock. Well...I saw at least 10 out back and they even leave a few at Costco as display cars.
To make a long story short, drove over to MB and saw they had a couple GLs out front. Test drove the GL 320 CDI first and was really surprised how well they drove. I love the concept of diesel, but I can't stand the noise it makes at take-off. I feel like I'm driving a school bus or something (Nothing against diesel as I've driven a bunch in Europe, but just not for me on a daily basis).
I still have a month left, so I'm gonna look at a few other cars (X5, Cayenne, etc) before I pull the trigger.
