Newbie to GL and USA!

Hi there, I am hoping to move over to the USA (really looking forward to it!!!)from Europe in the next week or so. I would like to purchase a GL320 CDi, so I've got a few questions (if you will bear with me!)

I am interest in a 2008MY vehicle (Verde Brook, Macadamia Leather, P1 and Bi-Xenons). I have configured it on MBUSA and the MSRP is $60,925. I hope to live in southern NM, so my choice of dealers is pretty limited.

1. How much in dealer fees, taxes etc will I have to pay all-in?
2. Is there a forum you can point me to relating to getting the best price?
3. Short of driving round all the gas stations, is there a source on the web for finding out if my local stations sell ULSD?
4. What is the delay between ordering a car and taking delivery?
5. When I configure it on MBUSA, I get the feeling that I am building a 2007MY, is that right?

I appreciate any help!

Expat,

What's kind of cool about this is that your choice of dealers is actually unlimited, as you can purchase from any dealer in the US and either a) pick it up (great way to get to know some of the country) or b) have it delivered (you have to decide if the cost and risk of over the road shipping is worth the savings you sometimes get in state's taxes).

I hear tell that one of the dealer's in Denver is awfully nice! NJ, I'm talking about your guys - who were they again?

The Denver dealer is the best in the business. Call Greg Weiler at 866-659-4788 and he will provide you all you need to make a purchase. He is thorough, extremely knowledgeable and most of all, a pleasure to talk to.

Expat07 -

I second NJ's comments. I didn't know about Greg until I started working with another rep at Westminster MB, but got to meet him on a recent visit and he truly is exceptional. You won't go wrong with him and I think NJ would agree that he's very responsive.

You'll be able to head right up Interstate 25 from New Mexico and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Colorado Rocky Mountains when you pick up your vehicle. Then, you can take all of the other state highways that wind through those mountains all the way back down to New Mexico.

Good Luck and Have Fun!

You only need one, and the Albuquerque dealer is fine. In addition, there's no better parts department in the USA.

You won't be able to find anything but ULSD.

Thanks Very Much

Will definitely check out the ABQ guy and Greg at Denver.

Been able to get 2k off MRSP so far from other guys.

Will double check on ULSD though as we are miles from any decent sized towns and if we get caught short, then could be in trouble with the wife!!

Once again, thanks very much for all you help...

I just took a trip across the country in a slightly different diesel vehicle. (A 42' - that's just under 13 meters - Motor Home) I found that nearly every place I went had Ultra-Low Sulfur, even many of the truck stops, particularly in the cities. It's a requirement I think in the beginning of 2008 for all diesel to be ULSD.

How much should I get off...

Final question (many thanks all replies thus far):

The MSRP of the 08MY GL320 I am looking at is $64,985.

Reading through the forums, there seems to be two schools of thought on discount for 08 Diesels

1. You get around $2,000 of MSRP. So price to me ex tax would be $62,985
2. You can get it at invoice + $1000 (approx). So based on 7% invoice-MSRP spread, the invoice would be about $60,400. So price to me ex tax would be $61,400,

Which one is more realistic?
