Dealer offer on 2007 GL 320 CDI

Our local dealer is offereing $ 6K off the MSRP on 2007 GL 320CDI. MSRP is $69255. Is this a good deal? OR should I buy 2008. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the "dollar over invoice" deal to me.

I also agree...with the MSRP of 69k it is loaded. If the color and options are good for you, I would take it. (beats waiting a few months for delivery of a special order). Only concern is the build date of the vehicle in question (version of hoses). Good luck!

Purchased my GL on July 11 and it had build date of 2/27 and it had Q3 hose.

Not clear to me whether dealer replaced it before sale or not.

It arrived at dealership yesterday July 31st. so I am assuming the build date was sometime in July. it has most of the options that we wanted (plus some) except the sunroof package which is not very critical for us.

Sounds like with that build date, dealer most likely replaced the hose. That is good to know that some dealers are correcting the problem...I hope all of them have.

Did You Discuss the $3,000 MB USA Incentive?

infamily,

MB USA was offering a $3,000 incentive to dealers to help them get rid of 2007 stock. If your dealer did not discuss that with you he is still making his money on the deal directly from MB USA.

It still may be a good deal for you and that's fine, but, if he wasn't honest with you about it, then that is bad form on his part.

If he did not tell you that up front (and the deal from MB USA is still valid), I would buy a 2008 from another dealer who is honest. If you are fortunate enough to have another local dealer.

I thought the MB incentive for GL 320 CDI is $ 2000. because of this incentive he is offering 6K under MSRP.

Not Sure About Incentive

When I was shopping around last week I thought it was 3k for all GL's and 2k for all ML's.

I did not think there was a distinction between the 320 CDI's in either model, but I could be wrong.

It's definitely $2K for GL320 and $3K for GL450. From Edmunds site.

Just bought the 2007 GL 320CDI.

well we just made the purchase. Dealer will prep the car next week and we pick it up Thursday. Really looking forward to my new ride. White GL 320 CDI with Macedemia leather, rear seat entertainment, Xenons, trailer hitch, 3 zone climate control, rear view camera, p1 pkg, keyless go, Ipod and blue tooth modules, appearance pkg. Only issue is dealer now wants $ 1640 to install running boards. So still trying to decide if running boards are worth that money.

Sounds like a very nice ride. Congrats and post some pics as soon as you get it.

On the running boards - is $1640 for parts and labor or just labor? If parts and labor then go for it, IMO.

Install them yourself

Install them yourself and save the labor charge if you really want them.

Aesthetics Of Running Boards, An Observation

(My Post From A Few Days Ago)

Has anyone elso noticed how much the GL running boards make a bright reflection off of the body work of the lower doors!

I noticed this immediately the first time I saw a GL with running boards last January. As soon as your start to walk toward the vehicle and you are in a position, or at a distance, that your eyes can look down toward the running boards, the reflection is noticable on the doors.

The bright silver metal with the black anti-slip dots gets reflected VERY distinctly by the paint. I find it is more noticable with the daker color paints.

Although I like the way the running boards intergrate with the body work at the base of the doors and ito the wheel wells, I do not like the reflection at all. I find it distracting. The same effect happens with the ML's and running boards.

However, it is a high vehicle and running boards can be helpful. I have stepped on them with my full weight and they are very sturdy.

My wife and I have ordered a new 2008 GL 320 and decided to order the side-step bars. I have never seen the side-step bars in person, only in pictures, there is also some reflection but at least it is not that "dot-dot" pattern.

By the way, the side-step bars are listed on the "build your own" page as $790, but the print out from NetStar lists them as $1,090.

infamily, you may want to consider Side-Step Bars? May be cheaper to install?

I prefer running boards over step rails

Thanks for the info, I prefer running boards over step bars.. I think running boards look better and the reflection does not bother me. I would imagine you will still get some reflection off side steps on the paint. By the way my dealer did reduce the price a bit because he said it only took him 2.5 hrs to install vs. his original estimate of 6.5 hrs.. so I am a happy camper.

Glad It Worked Out

infamily,

Really glad everything worked out. I looked at your earlier post and realized that you have a white GL. That truck looks good in white. There is one in white that I see around my town.

The running board reflection is probably the least visible with the white body color, so I agree with you, it won't be a bother on your truck. I do think it is unsightly on the darker color GL's and ML's. Just my opinion.
