Talking New (used) GL acquired....taking delivery Saturday

Pewter/macadamia, P1, appearance, and 3-zone packages. m-c seats, sidestep bars, maybe a couple other knicknacks I can't recall. Sorry to see my S4 go, but needed a (much) bigger kid- and stuff-hauler - I'm pretty excited. Pics to come!

Good luck. Sounds a lot like mine. For me, the color combo has worn very well with time. Except for a bad compressor for air suspension, my GL has not had any problems.

Congrats. I'm telling everyone that the brake dust is absolutely horrible on this car but otherwise, no complaints...

Best of luck with the new vehicle, you're gonna like it a lot! (yeah, except for the brake dust!)

Actually, I've found the brake dust on the GL to be less of a problem than my SLK320 and SLK350. It's just horrible on those cars and I have to wipe the wheels about every 50 miles. On the GL I've been wiping the wheels only about every 200 miles.

I read a story recently that MB was making less-dusty brakes in response to consumer compaints. Maybe its true! But the GL brakes are still more dusty than my wife's Lexus RX330.

It's about time...it has only taken them about 50 years to get that message...

Been cleaning M-B brake dust for 25 years (since alloy wheels)...it is a part of the ownership experience. I'm sure the Germans believe that its a sfatey thing...everytime you ask about an issue...its a safety thing (like remote start)!!

I have noticed that my brake dust has gone down A LOT. I took the car in for brake squealing and they replaced all the pads and also put some sort of goo/grease/whatever on pads to reduce the squeal. Since then my brake dust has been reduced a lot.

Congrats! Nice color combo. Yeah, brake dust is a problem, but it is worth it.

Heh. It may be bad, but it can't possibly be any worse than the Audis I've been driving for the past 8 years....

Brake Dust Covers

Heah guys BMW is no better on the brake dust.. But I found a fix.. Put brake covers on 4 wheels of my 750Li and walla no more brake dust.. Rims always look new/clean even if car gets filthy.. Pretty amazing.. Only down side is don't get to see rotors and calipers but never saw that as a big need.. Now I smirk whem I see other 7's with dirty rims... I went for the brake dust covers and am pretty happy with them.. Cost me about $300-500 through dealer and can't remember exact amount just like so many other bills... Anyway, would look into brake dust covers.. Pretty much a cinch to pop into rim if wanna save on the dealer prices...

Just clean the wheels after every use and wax once or twice a week. If you work or have a family think about hiring a personal detailer for MB and BMW wheels.

I need to do that ASAP. I'm tired of almost every weekend having to wipe them down..

Sounds like good advice.. Since my wife gets a housekeeper for the house, then I should have my own personal detailer/washer for the car.. Gotta be fair!!

I took mine in for squeling too, but didn't get that goo/grease.

Crud.....and I have thrown away the service order or I could tell you exactly what to ask for. Did you ask them if they could put some "anti squeal goo" on?
