carpersn, I think you're right, especially at the price point Txhurdle indicates. If they can only make them like hotcakes...
Their information outlets (web, brochures, press releases, etc) contain misleading or outdated information, their options selection code needs a CPA to interpret, their production progress information is vague, and their production rates are suspect to say the least. They have no stock inventory to satisfy the savvy buyer who wants "the works" and then when you do decide to order, you are restricted in your selections based on their needs, not on yours.
My GL550 was to be built on August 13th and had a VIN # assigned, no one including Montvale could give me or my rep a status until the 25th! A fellow poster had his vehicle built on the 31st and both trucks were in Chicago on the same dates. His is due Monday, mine they do not have a ETA on yet. We assume they are on different trains but who knows...the dealer doesn't.

NJ - look at the bright side. At least you are not waiting for 5 months this time.
And back to topic, wife looked at GLK and wants it
The SL photo section would never be the same if this went down.
Also regarding the GLK: Im not sure we have enough MB models yet....I for one would like to see 10 more new models by 2010
