Aux heat/vent?
Does the US GL have this feature? I use it in my BMW all the time, especially the ventilation in the summer. Really helps. It was mentioned in the online owner's manual that Oknish linked, but that seems to be the Euro version.

I remember always using this feature on my '95 BMW 740il, especially to start ventilation every day at 4:45pm for 15minutes before I was generally leaving the office during the summer. This is not a feature in our GL's unfortunately here in America Raj. Just make sure you have the infared glass option as I have on my 2007 GL450. It really helps during the summers and you can actually leave the sunroof screen back!

Do you have the folding kind or the roll-up kind? I have the roll-up kind in my BMW; it does a great job but it takes up a fair amount of space when stowed.
Can't get IR glass in the 550, apparently no aux vent either. Time to invest in a good reflective sunshade!
Doesn't the 3-zone AC include the IR glass?
The only reason I can see is MBUSA found a way to save a few bucks. By saying the "Blue Glass" is more sporty (B***S***) and thereby eliminating the IR glass, the bean counters got Kudos from the boss. The sunroofs are tinted just like the 320/450. The privacy windows are probably the blue glass with a dark tint and not the IR with a dark tint?
The Blue glass has some IR/UV protection, more than the regular green glass but less than the IR glass. The IR glass is also laminated and helps with noise reduction. I had the Blue glass on my W211 sport and did not have the windows tinted and it did not seem too bad here in sunny LV. But I would have preferred the IR product.

It's beginning to look like the 2007 450 was a "test bed" i.e. you could order pretty much everyting and now in the 2008 versions of the 450, 550 you have the "you can order this but not that" kind of approach with each of the models.
