California is beautiful--Plenty of MB dealers

Within hours of sending my offers, I got offers ranging from 500-1000 under invoice. Took the 500 under invoice from a dealer around the corner.

Here is my order:

2008 GL 450--Black-MB Tex Interior
PO2 Package
19" Wheel
Running boards
Trailer hitch
Dual DVD Player
Ipod kit

I wanted the off-road package, as I hear the truck handles/rides better (wanted the truck to ride as close to my X5 as possible), however, you can't get the off-road package with the 19"s

GL should be here in early Dec.

Do you mean, $500 over invoice, or possibly $500 under MSRP???

No, I mean under invoice, not MSRP. Plenty of deals to be had. A few dealers in Southern California offered me $1000.00 under invoice

Man...I don't know about this MB pricing situation. Newly released 2008 models being sold under invoice? What must this be doing to the used car market? With these under invoice deals, what kind of dealer fees are being added to the bottom line? Historically MB new model year cars were not even discounted for at least a couple of months.

Just some thoughts as I read all these discount amounts...

I chalk up some of it to the ole "I'm gonna say I paid invoice (or below) so people don't know I paid more" kind of thing.

I hear people saying there's "deals to be made".. maybe its on remaining 07's, but I just don't see it on 08's yet. Of course, I was looking for the diesel, and peps are snapping these monkeys up. Who knows.

GL450 (Alabaster White/Black Interior)
I started looking for mine around November of last year. Was offered $500 to $1,000 under invoice from three Southern California dealers. Worst part was that I did not even have to try that hard.

I did not try hard either. I sent 10 emails yesterday, and took one of the deals today. I visited the dealer at lunchtime to order my GL, and made sure the dealer charged no other fees. I have everything in writing, even down to promising the December (when my GL will be built) rate with no markups.

SoCal is a "buyer's" market, Jack. All these competition between dealers is good for something, at least

Jokes aside, folks around here excelled at buying new cars by taking money of the housing ATM even when they couldn't afford it. Now that the housing ATM has been shut down by Wall Street, sales are going through the floor.

550s are hard to get a deal on right now but deals can be had on 450s. Most all dealers here start at invoice on 450.

And, yes, used car market is brutal right now. However, dealer fees are not that much from what I am seeing. Just the usual doc fee ranging from 50 to 200 bucks.

I hear you man, but California is a competitive market. The reason for posting my deal is to help others, not to boast. If anyone needs info on the dealers that gave me the best offers, send me a PM.
