Trip Statistics

Here are the figures from my cross country trip. They include all stops, idles, short trips and long trips and interstate. Reset when I started the trip and shot the image when I pulled in the garage. I really poured it on returning with long days.

Boy-o-Boy... I'd say you did indeed pour it on during the return. Looks like you may be getting a little Stumblefoot, errr Leadfoot going yourself.

Glad the trip went safely.

No 100+ speeds just steady 75-85. Covered over 800 miles on Tuesday...from Oklahoma City to Holbrook AZ. GL handled beautifully and was a real pleasure to drive. Had it washed today right after I got home...full of bugs and dusty dirt and mud sling. Looks beautiful now.

Should get the fins next week and I am still debating whether to get the AMG logo.

Thanks nish. Not many pictures at all. Some personal stuff of friends who came down from Charlotte and cousin from Atlanta. My sister and I went to the Audubon Swamp on Tuesday before the op and enjoyed that but the humidity was in the 90's! When I travel I hate to stop...get where I am going and return as quick as I can.

Here is a boat I saw in the swamp...looks like it needs a little work and boarding must be a lot of fun...:-)

N.J....Say it aint so. "you don't need no stink'n AMG badge"!
Very few people anywhere know what AMG means, and those who do will know that the GL550 is not an AMG.
The GL550 stands out as it is...just my $.02

Jack, great to hear you are back. That's a lot of miles in a very short time frame. I hope all is well with your sister............

I was hyped on it but it has lost it's glow during my travels. I will add the fins and then re-assess the situation. These are major decisions...:-)

Thanks...let's get together for lunch someday. Let me know when your schedule brings you to Summerlin.

My sister is a quick healer and a spry 83 years. Keeps me running just to keep up with her.

Thanks Jen...it was a quickie but spending 6 days in a Holiday Inn Express is not my idea of comfort. She is in a retirement life care facility (a very nice one) but no accommodations for guests.

Holiday Inn Express isn't bad for an overnight, but I can't imagine spending 6 days at one!

Well I was fortunate to be out of the room more than I was in it..:-) I spent most of the time with her in her apartment.

Welcome back NJ, glad your sister is doing well.

I too was hyped seeing the AMG badge but like you have cooled a bit after reading here and thinking. Good thing there are so many other GL things we can still focus on! Let us know how you like the fins. Looks like PP is selling them for $132 now! I would expect the real deal for that coin.

Home Sweet Home

Very happy all went so well with your sister and the trip. Looks like really nice mileage from your reports, considering the weight of the Beastie. 800 miles one day... You are one tough man, Jack Really good to have you back

I agree Mary. It took 3 adult men to drive my GL back the 750 miles from Vegas.

Hmmmmmm... I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact we all enjoyed 1-2 hours of sleep the night before the trip home. Surely not!

Glad to hear you and your 550 made it back safe and sound. Nothing like returning home after staying in a hotel for a week or so.

Thanks cj...I agree with you. I spent 14 nights in a motel room, 6 in the same one. I was ready to come home and glad to get home...:-)

Thanks Mary...don't think I can do 800 miles in a day much longer...it really had me beat when I got home the next day and finally got a good nights sleep last night. Feel great today!

Surely not... Sleep driving is not recommended although it can lead to some stimulating memories the next day LOL Don't ask how I know.

Vegas maybe some time in the near future I can join y'all.
