GL550 on Yahoo! "like Ritz-Carlton"
Hey guys (and gals),
I saw this on Yahoo! last week; it was one of their headline stories. It's an article about how the "cool" mom is going with the SUV instead of the mini-van. It's not a great article; it just talks about SUV's in general.
It only has one sentence about (other) luxury SUV's, then it goes into a whole paragraph about the GL550:
"Add the 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL550 to the roster of luxurious, full-size SUVs. The GL550 is like a Ritz-Carlton presidential suite on wheels, with all the amenities and comfort you’d expect from a $77,000 German SUV. With its attention to detail, ultra-premium features, and 5.5-liter, 382-hp V8 engine, the GL550 is sure to lure many a mom—and dad. The three-bar front grille, with extra large Mercedes-Benz star and sharp aesthetics, doesn’t hurt either."
I like the "GL550 is like a Ritz-Carlton presidential suite on wheels."

It seems that everyone with a GL450 who has reported to Consumer Reports (normally a pretty reliable source of information) has reported bad stuff, because they now say they've gotten enough information to call the GL450 "Unreliable." I'd have thought they'd have said that about my 320 long before the 450!
Oh, well, just another twist of statistics. (You know, "Lies, damned lies, and statistics.")

But the GL comes in tied for 3rd in the Owner Satisfaction Survey, Trailing the Land Cruiser and Chrysler Aspen (I guess both owners are happy). 78% of both GL’s and LX470’s state they would but the vehicle again compared to the Land Cruisers 82%
