Speaking of weird noises ...
Do you notice that your NAV disc spins for maybe 30 seconds or so every time you open a door or move a front seat . This is with key out and radio/COMAND screen turned off. I thought it was just getting ready for engine start up, but it happens even if you open front passenger or either rear door . ( You have to hold your ear pretty close to the COMAND screen to hear it)

In mine you can hear the radio even when the mute is on and it is quiet all around. Just noticed that yesterday as I was falling asleep in the car while in the garage.

Sorry to get so off topic with the two previous posts, but it seems that is what I'm good at.
To your original post, I have not noticed that sound yet. But, I tend not to have my ear near the command system, nor do I sleep in the GL like Nish.

I have noticed the sound as well coming from the nav DVD when i enter the GL. I assume its normal like the sounds I hear from the airmatic system.
