Wheel well cleaning

I found a new use for raising the vehicle. Raise it occasionally before you wash when you want to clean wheel wells and/or under the vehicle for much easier access. This would be usefull to those of you living in snow (and salt) country wanting to get the crap off. 3 inches doesn't sound like much but it really makes a huge difference. God, I love this truck!

Raising the vehicle is also helpful when you've dropped a couple of important parts for the headlamps down inside the air dam below the bumper, and you have a huge head and a fat body like mine. Of course, not knowing if the vehcile drops after you've turned it off makes for some fast work ...

Is it my imagination or is there some kind of fabric in the wheel wells?

PS It's been raining here for two days, now I love my truck even more!

Not your imagination Steve. This is a material I had on the S550 also. I read about it when I was doing my research on the S to see what exactly I had paid so much money for...:-) It aids in sound isolation and provides more protection to the wheel well areas. They can be power washed just like the old linings. They are also environmentally friendly to keep the tree huggers smiling...

I haven't noticed it dropping at all after turning off ignition and I've had it up for a good 90 minutes. I would think they designed it not to drop in case you park off road over a rock.

The rear does indeed have that fabric - I'm kinda curious what's under it. Front is hard plastic.

I too have the fabric in the back wheel wells. I had driven the GL home in a snowstorm a few weeks ago. When I went to drive it the next day I had a severe shimmy when I got to speeeds above 40mph. I drove slowly to my destination, lifted the truck up, and proceeded to clear snow that had caked onto the fabric. Once the snow was removed the shimmy was gone.

As they say in those Guinness beer commercials, "Brilliant"! Great idea Troll. Never even thought about that.
