With all that said, .73% is well within the manufacturers guidelines so you really have nothing to worry about. It was a moot point that was based on the calculations of the aspect ratio and rims and not the manufacturers specs. It has persuaded me, for the time, not to put 22" rims on my GL. I would be worried that the rims would be damaged too often with such a heavy vehicle and a low aspect ratio. AMG got it right with the 21's.

You car does look sweet. Keep us informed of any bent or broken rims.
I also worried about the quality of the wheel too! GL is too heavy for aftermarket wheels. OZ really make good quality wheel that's why I give it a try. I'll update if my wheel got bent or something...

You are making the assumption that the tire is perfectly fitted to the car at speed. I have a GL450 fitted with the 18' stock wheels and conti tires. My car at 73MPH cruise control on in the flat hits a radar speed indicator (popular item here in the valley as the CHP thinks it controls speed) and my feed back from the sign is blinking between 71 and 72. I support the math for the 40's section size as being correct in this case for the 22's sizing.

They look sweet. If they bend, get another rim. I'm just interested to see if they do get bent. If not, I'll probably get 22's or wait until the AMG 21's are readily available at reasonable prices for a cast wheel and not the crazy high prices people are asking.

BlownV8, should we try another one? Speedometer will be reading approx 3% under the actual speed you are traveling. The good thing, if you don't get a ticket, is your waranty will last 3% longer. 660 revs per mile with 22 inch tires versus 680 -685 revs per mile with standard oem tires.

According to the Tire rack, his OEM tires were 275/55/19 Continental 4x4 Contact that do 721 revs per mile. The General UHP do 660 revs per mile. That's a wee bit more than 3%. Ouch!

Leo taught me not to rely on the manufacturers sizes, aspect ratio and rim size, to determine the actual size of the tire.

I compared against oem 18's. How did you know he had 19's, just curious. Anyway I agree with the Ouch!

He has the front and rear stainless skid plates. Those come with the 19" wheel package.

Ouch

My wife is typically at or under the speed limit...lol Interesting to know about the 3-4% for when we drive to CA and I set the cruise to 84mph (when we are really going 87). Thanks for the heads up---I would've thought the speedometer would be set with tire inputs in this day and age....but what do I know.

Sorry to bring back an old thread. I just picked up a set of these wheels and need to order some shorter lugbolts. Which ones did you order and do you know if they were coned or rounded?
