Merry Christmas from MB

This may be a repeat of a previous post, but I received a nice gift from MB yesterday: a MB leather wallet with a $50 Saxs Fifth Avenue gift card. I think I can buy one sock!

On another note, am I "slow", or is the vehicle manual "package" too big to fit in the glove compartment. It is in a nice leather folio, but it is massive. Weird. What gives?

Too big for glove box, fits in door pocket.

Same with E-class; I suspect most others, too.

I got one of those when I first purchased my GL320, then I got another gift of a woolen blanket for Christmas. The "owner's manual" (or MB's version of "War & Peace") fits nicely next to the spare, under the rear deck. It's either that or out in the open. I guess that's something the designers of the car and the printers of the manual never got together on, eh?

If you put it in at just the right angle (no pun intended), it fits right next to the first aid kit in the back. I would put it next to the spare as STP suggested, but all my towing junk is down there. Funny how MB engineers didn't make enough space in the glove compartment.
Speaking of that, I just realized that the CD changer can be pushed up to create more space. Then when you push the "CDC" button, it comes back down.

Yup, that one took me a while to figure out; I had thought I paid a bundle for a single CD changer. Nevertheless, CD's seem to be without much value when you can bring your entire music collection with you in the Ipod.

I am surprised they don't just load it as a PDF internally for view on the command screen. That way it would be searchable, etc. when you want to find something quick. A back-up (when the car is dead and you are really in deep do do) could be left at home or with the spare. I guess we will have to wait a few model years for a real onboard database/memory.

Indeed that does seem like a MUCH better idea than flipping through hundreds, if not thousands of pages in the manuals.

Boy, you must rate. I also just received a MB leather wallet and a Sacks gift card, but mine was for $25. I did, however, receive a couple of gifts from my dealer, when I bought my vehicle, so I guess I really can't complain, or can I? I gave my card to my wife as a stocking stuffer. Probably a mistake as it will no doubt cost me hundreds more........at least .

Saks Fifth Avenue

If you are a member of SaksFirst Club, cost nothing to join, you get $1000 if you purchase or lease a 2007 or 2008 Mercedes. The details on on this website: https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/Saks...=1198684140513

I had to send a copy of m lease contract but it wasn't a big deal.

Keeping in mind Mercedes' real aversion to modern electronics (at least as far as entertainment/navigation/connectivity is concerned) I'm not holding my breath, but what Ford is doing (Lord forgive me) is really forward-thinking with their Microsoft-powered head units. I'd love to see some LINUX/UNIX based head units coming out of the European market - there are folks out there who could work absolute magic on a system like that.

Here's to hoping!

I appreciate the tip, but I think you have to "spend at least $1,000 in eligible spending in calendar year 2006 or calendar year 2007 at Saks on your Saks Fifth Avenue credit card", to get a matching $1,000.00. Even though I have only a few days left to make the deadline, I bet I know someone at home who could accomplish this feat.

I got a really nice tin of excellent chocolate chip cookies with the dealer's name on the top of the tin in appreciation for picking up a new M5 costing just shy of $100K. I would have preferred another $1000 - $2000 off the transaction. You can buy a bunch of cookies for that kind of money.

I'd say if you got anything at all for a $65 - 70K vehicle from MBUSA you did pretty well. I haven't opened the cookies, and if you want them, they're available for bid. Any takers?

I've been waiting and waiting, checking my mail every day.... but nothing! No gift from Herr MB Santa. I'm bummed. Maybe since I got my GL in October I did not make the list in time.... or maybe the dealer figured out what a POS my 1998 ML320 trade-in really was (I truly suffered with that one)!
