Front License Plate - no holes in bumper!

Has anyone on the GL board installed this yet?

In NJ, front tags are still required and, IMHO, it ruins the look of the vehicle. This appears to be a no brainer.

Cheers and TIA.

I am fortunate in Las Vegas that no front plate is required. However, if one was required I would drill the holes and center the plate. The off-center mounting does not add to the cars look, but in fact is more distracting than a center mounted plate. YMMV

Not to mention what to do when you need a tow.

NJ,

I believe this item was made for temporary use (periodic inspections, **** gendarmery).

It is a must buy for me as I made the mistake of drilling holes in our '00 W220 (since sold) for the front plate. Shortly thereafter, I parked next to another W220 with no plate - I was astounded how terrible mine looked. Don't get me wrong, I did not fall out of love for my vehicle. I just made a note to never do surgery on an MB's front bumper again.

Unfortunatley my GL was dealer stock due to a canceled order and they had already put screws into bumper, poor job btw. On other cars I own and special ordered I have specifically requested dealer not install the front mount and have driven around without the front plate. However as you indicated you may be stopped, but usually because of something else -- if they are picky may get a small fine(~$25). Also for inspection I have taken the car to dealer and while you pay a small fee they do not care if the front plate is on or not.

Here is my .02 cents. You can get a bull bar and install the plate on that. I don't like off centered plate.

Bull bar or brush guard would be nice, but it interferes with Parktronic.

That off-center front plate mount certainly distracts from the vehicle appearance IMO.

Luckily, here in Alberta we don't require a front plate, but some politicians and bureaucrats with too much time on their hands have proposed that the Province consider making front plates a requirement. I'm hoping that idea dies soon, because putting a front plate on my GL is certainly not something I want to do.
