Audi Q7 V12TDI vs GL 420 cdi
If Audi brings this to the US like they are supposed to in a year or two, Mercedes would loose out on serious business if they don't bring the GL 420 to the states.

I would buy the Audi but the price point is well over 100k dollars. This would be where the GL 420 could undercut Audi and sell the GL 420 for 80-90k and win that market share.

I doubt it would be only 100 sales and I didnt say it would crush anyone. Even if it is 100 sales lost multiply that by 80-90k. I am not trying to provoke a fight just stating an observation that the GL 420 needs to come to the US market so I can get one.

VW (& Audi) have a ridiculously mucked up history of not knowing which diesel market to appeal to-who in the world, with diesel costing $3.40 here in NC, will want to spend the extra dough for just to have the (non) cache' of a diesel in a tiny little Audi?
Didn't sell many of those V-10 Touregs, did they? Merc has it right on the money with putting economical diesels into the market before super-performance models. Even the wealthiest in the world are taking note of the green movement.

You need to know that using the words "GL420CDI" (or "420 Bluetec," or anything along those lines) causes a mild electric shock to go to GL Fahrer's brain, setting off a knee-jerk reaction he simply cannot control. He has to be kept away from sharp objects when discussing anything diesel. It's not your fault, he can't help it.

AUDI Allroad 3.0tdi
not the V12tdi, however have driven both the Q7 4.2 V8 Tdi and GL420 back to back and found the GL a stronger engine. I'm a bit AUDI fan (have an RS5 on order for 2009), however didn't find the Q7 'special' enough to justify the price tag - its just a big A6 imho. A very good car, however just didn't do it for me
