Chrome Fog lights grill

Hi all

I need to replace my current GL 450's fog lights with the Chrome ones that come with the Lighting package. I contacted the dealer and they said that those are factory items only and that I would need to change the entire bumper to get them. the only other way is through an after market place.

Does anyone know of a place that sells them?
Thanks

Part Number

Do you happen to have the part number? Would love to switch out 450 black fog lights for chrome ones like the 550.

Kerygma, did the dealer have the parts. I asked a few dealers here in the Los Angeles area and they all told me that they don't carry such items.

Earlier this year, I changed out my black fog lamp surrounds for the chrome version on my '08 GL 320 CDI. You do not have to change out the bumper.
You must also change out the actual fog lamp in addition to the black surrounds (covers). I ordered them from mercedespartspeople.com. The part numbers are as follows:
164-880-07-24 left chrome fog lamp cover - $80.85
164-880-08-24 right chrome fog lamp cover - $80.85
169-820-15-56 right fog lamp - $48.00
169-820-16-56 left fog lamp - $48.00
There is a shipping cost as well, which for me in Texas was $14.00. If you have a problem with the website, call 800-456-6257 x-399, which is the number of the supplier for their parts.

If you search through some old threads in this forum, you will find one called "chrome hood fins and fog light trim" that started on 11-27-07 by member canvasback13. Another member named MoTorque posted some excellent instructions and pictures of what he did to install these parts.
Please know that it involves a little bit of trimming of the back of the plastic bumper (after the original fog lamps are removed) in order to allow the new fog lamp to fit properly. Once the installation is complete, it looks like it came from the factory....very professional looking, and easy to do. Good luck.

What else is new? I really like the parts dept at Simonson in Santa Monica. They have been most knowledgable.

I'm not sure I understand your question on who sells them. Your own comments seem to indicate that Jerry at formymercedes.com can get them. Also, did you not see my post #6 of this thread (topic)? It gives you everything you need.
