Should I not even ask? Is there a big difference between the the 450, 550 and cdi?

It can't be as bad as the 12 mpg that I currently get in my S.

City I am probably around the 14.5 mark, highway about 18.3 or so. Mixed maybe 16 or so. I really don't keep close watch on it and these are rough estimates.

I have the 450 and live in the mountains. I average 16.8 mpg SO much better than my '07 Tahoe that got 10 mpg!

The best I have gotten on the highway was 22. Typically I get 15/16 in city driving and around 20 on the highway. My average is around 17/18 in my daily mix of city and highway. Not bad but it still sucks filling it up with premium which I am sure will be over $4 in the next month or so in my area (I know it already is in some parts of California).

I average about 19-21mpg in the city, 25 to as high as 32 (downhill) on the freeways, with a variety of loads. I was getting 12-14 in my LX470.

I just filled up yesterday and the majority of my driving has been to/from airport, up and down the mountain with some limited in-town driving. I'm one of those knuckleheads that calculates mileage manually, rather than relying on the trip computer and according to my calculations, I got 19.1mpg on my last tank.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the fuel economy of our 550.

I am in Cali, and yesterday I paid $4.09. 19.6 gallons = $80.16

Premium is $4.04 here but the pumps are capped at $75 so I've yet to fill up a tank.

With a 44 g tank, she may have to run her credit card 3 times to fill it. Our '02 Excursion was able to go 650+ miles between fill ups, @ 17 MPG. I can only get around 17 g before the $75 cutoff and have to run mine 2 times to fill my Duramax. It's only getting around 15 MPG and I often have to fill it every two days.

We are averaging 22 MPG with the GL 320.

mileage 320 cdi

Over the last 6 months, I have averaged just under 21 miles/gal for mostly city driving. On the highway, its about 25 miles/gal. and it seems the sweet spot on speed vs. economy is about 65 mph. Can't say I always hit the sweet spot though.

On my 320 cdi

Between 1800 and 2300 miles, I tried between 3 to 5 runs at each speed for about 8 to 15 miles on cruise control and came up with:

69 mph - 25.5 mpg
74 mph - 24.2 mpg
79 mph - 23.4 mpg
84 mph - 21.2 mpg

These numbers were about 1.5 mpg better than those recorded at the 1,000 mile mark.

Hmm. City maybe 14-16, highway 22-24. I've seen it as high as 28, likely a smiliar situation as STP was describing, going downhill, etc.
Bleh. These $4.00+ gas prices here in Indiana aren't the greatest.

Still doesn't keep me from driving the GL.

I am about the same here.... Although when my wife drives it, it gets about 2 MPG less across the board...

If she does end up selling it, give me a shout... Those diesel Excursions make great Jeep haulers. Either myself or perhaps several of my buddies might be interested.

Yep, she said she has to swipe her card a few times to actually fill it. Hers isn't getting very good mileage. It is a 2005 and she said she is getting about 13 mpg. Thankfully she only drive 5 miles to work. I still don't see the point in her needing that big of a truck, it is just her. Now that my dad has seen our GL, he is pushing her to sell

I will let ya know. It is a nice truck. It is a 2005, 4X4, white Eddie Bauer addition with the two tone black/tan leather interior and factory DVD. It has low miles to, I think around 20,000.

Yeah! Fortunately my 2002 was the last year of the infamous 7.3L Powerstroke, which I think will go down in history as one of, if not the best diesel engines of all time. I ran a total of 5 of them between my personal and company vehicles, for a total of 700K miles, without a major component failure. It was only rated at 250 HP but it would pull a freight train. 17 MPG was an average. It would actually get 18 or 19 on the highway. When I traded in the Excursion, the used car manager was drooling at the mouth. It didn't even have a door ding. Needless to say, I won on that exchange plus got a decent deal on the GL320.

4 Wheel Drive would also be a big plus...
