Very nice!

I've never been much into different wheels (my husband tells me it's more of a guy thing) but those look VERY nice.

Both vehicles really look great. I especially like how the black one is set off by the wheels. BTW, I think both vehicles are actually a 450 and not a 550, but they still look great.

Not to mention their front grilles. They definitely are not 550's.

I noticed that also. In addition, the front grills, as someone mentioned, are that of a 450. I think someone decked out their black 450 with a lot of chrome upgrades, i.e. the roof rails, side window trim, and the rear bumper plate.

Good point. I would imagine, however, that the exhaust tips were probably an add on as well. I still say the rear shows it to be a 450 (even held a magnifying glass to the monitor), and that front grill gives it away also. Many of these additional chrome accents can be bought at very reasonable prices from some websites of secondary marketers. I did that myself on my black GL, although I didn't go so far as changing out the exhaust tips. Maybe the author of this thread will eventually chime in.

Hey,

I noticed my mistake this morning. That's what I get for using the NumPad too fast.

I promise to try and find some GL550 we have done to make it up to you.

Thanks!

You are exactly right, and I changed mine out. Unfortunately, you have to change out the actual fog lamp (different shape) in addition to the chrome trim arount the lamps. I bought my new parts online from mercedespartspeople.com /or email dan.durham@mccurley.net (1-800-456-6257 x-399). The part numbers and prices are as follows: 164-880-07-24 and 164-880-08-24 (left and right chrome fog lamp covers; and 169-820-16-56 and 169-820-15-56 (left and right fog lamps). While I'm sure there has been a price increase since I bought, but I paid $80.85 for each cover and $48.00 for each new lamp, or was it the way around? I also paid $14.00 for shipping. These are far better prices than ordering from your dealer. Also, go back to a past thread of this forum, around September, 2007 and read up on member MoTorque's well done installation instructions. He provides step by step guidelines and pictures. It's a little tricky since it requires some trimming of the back of the plastic bumper so the new lamps will fit properly.
I'm not that handy, but I showed these steps and pictures to a body shop rep at my dealer who was very helpful and was willing to handle for me for all of $20 on the side. He said it would have cost at least $120 if the service dept. had done it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

not 550

no fender flares either -- btwn that and grill and the fact that they say 450 on the back -- they r definitely 450's -- i added chrome plate to the back of my 450 too ($185) and replaced my exausts ($167 x 2) mainly because it was in an accident -- used the opportunity to upgrade. -- the fender add ons are kind of pricey -($1350+) so did not do that. the chrome window things are like 130-150 each side i believe and are fairly easy to replace. the chrome roof rack though involves removing headliner and prob is pricey too. i did get some amg pedals which were a great oem like upgrade for really cheap ($69) straight from germany from guy on ebay 'giorgios'. also the chrome surrounds for window switches easy and cheap. will prob get chrome pins for locks and aero fins for hood soon. sorry. my 2 cents

Could be a GL450 Premier Edition. Those all came in Black and were decked out with all chrome (running boards, roof rails, fogs).
