just got an 09 GL450, are the wireless headsets supposed to work in 3rd row ?!?!
SubscribeHello, We just got a 09 GL450 with the rear seat dvd entertainment, for some reason the wireless headsets only work in the 2nd row, are they supposed to work in the 3rd row ... it is strange as soon as you move the headsets past the 2nd row headrests they stop working ... put them back to the 2nd row and you hear the dvd ?!?
thanks

I do not have an '09 and the '08's have wired, yes wired headsets
But in my last car, the headsets did not work in the front seats (safety reasons) or the third row. I believe the IR range is very short.
Congrats on the new car and welcome to the forum

The range only goes so far, that is why they will not work in the thrid row. I havent got the exact specs, but have sent an email to my delivery specialist to see if he has any exact info on this.

If they are infrared headsets, they have to be in direct sight of the transmitter to work. So, depending on where the transmitter is located, that could be the reason they don't work in the 3rd row.
I checked the owners manual and nothing about it was listed, I do remember see an option in the command menu's about turning off rear audio ...
Anyway, maybe I'll call the dealer ... thanks

IR headphones do work using line-of-sight so they will not work in the third row. You can however have RF headphones fitted to the vehicle if you want which would allow additional viewers in the third row to listen in without issue.
