Hello Mbworld patrons..

This is my first post and hopefully will soon have my first Mercedes.

I have been offered $14k discount + $2K (fleet discount)..on a 2008 GL450 (Silver/ash..P1, RSE, 19",TRailer)

Car has MSRP of abt $69k so they have offered it to me for $53k+taxes

Should I go for it or should I wait for the 2009's to be discounted ? If they were to be discounted when do you guys feel they will be discounted in this economy?

Also by spring next year most likely I will not be eligible for Fleet discount of $2k.

Also I really wanted Keyless/Xenon but I cannot find a car locally with these options in Silver/Ash..

Addendum--

Just heard Mercedes now has increased there dealer incentive by another $3k. Just spoke to my dealer he agreed to give me the extra discount..and I accepted this offer. Hope to have my first BENZ soon !

In this economy..Im sure the MB dealers are dying to just give away there cars especially the SUV's! I had the option of buying a 2008 model GL, but, I liked the updated command screen and some other features available on the 2009 so I just went with the 2009.

But, it depends on what you like. IMO, go check out the 2009's and see if you like the new features on it...If you do, wait for the 2009's to be discounted, Im sure it wont be long before they give you the same deal on a 2009 model, with the holidays coming along, they'll want to move cars before the year ends.

This car is surely a demonstrator.

It's fantasy to think the dealer makes this much on a car sale.

I just purchased a new 2008 GL320 CDI with P1, Hitch, iPOD and MSRP $61,590 for $48,000 plus tax. That price included front tinted windows, mercedes rubber mats, mercedes mudguards, and the chrome door handle inserts (worth at least $500 actual cost). The dealer's cost on this vehicle without accessories was $47,070 so they made less than $1000 if you include the accessories. I would not be surprised to see discounts in the realm of 15K-16K on the more expensive 2008's but 19K is impossible.

The $7000 dealer cash back is unchanged currently.

Wow, I feel like a Jackie by boasting I had gotten 250 over invoice, but we're speaking about back in March of 2007 :-)...

well, like it or not, the $16k off is REAL (not on a demo). It's the additional $3k that I'm having trouble making any traction on. I'll keep you posted.

I'm in the NE. Dealer is in upstate NY. I think they have 2 black ones left where they would do that kind of price.

So you bought it? Congrats! You will have to post pics. My dealer finally came up to the $16,000 off but I decided to go for the 09 anyway. I would of bought the 08 too if I got $19,000 off. That is awesome!

Just came back from a 1000 mile thanksgiving trip and just loved it, will post pictures after I take some .

I have been debating the silver/ash myself. How do you like it? Right now I have silver/black and it is super easy with the kids. Can't wait to see pics!!

I want something different too. I wanted Pewter exterior but that isn't going to happen so I figured I would change the interior I looked at the weathertech floor mats and they are awesome. If i get ash I will definitely order them. Here is the link, check them out.

K - go for the pewter/black if you are going for the MY2009. Have your local dealer swap for one.

They can't find the pewter/black combo There was 1 in Washington but they are claiming it sold (dealer is WA). The only other pewter/black combo that I have found is 2008 or a BlueTec. I am so bummed.

My dealer (Valencia) has a silver/black advertised on their web site. I know it's not the pewter but they do have a pewter/mac combo if you're interested.

Hey Jen thanks! I am more and likely going with silver/black. They found me one that is loaded (with the exception of P2). They are making me a great deal on it. I really wanted Pewter/Black. I am afraid my kids will ruin the Mac interior.

Congrats! I also picked mine up on Saturday. White on black MB-tex. I got $16k off though. Couldn't swing the extra discounts off probably because of the region I'm in (NJ/NYC). Inventory for remaining 08s were also slim pickings here.

I have P1, iPod integration, and towing hitch.

Love it so far. Put in some PIAA replacement bulbs right away. Definitely makes a big difference. Looking to get a bluetooth adapter but not willing to shell out $300-400. Hope to find a used one. Also looking for some nerf bars.

I wish I could. The dealer told me that it would take 4-6 months and I don't have another car to drive. I just keep praying that one pops up somewhere
