Anyone recent purchase of GL 550??

Thinking of getting a GL 550. Saw a white today in Chicago and it looked very nice. Very sporty looking. Liked the AMG wheels. So I was wondering what kind of deals/incentives are out there currently? How much off MSRP if buying? Or what kind of lease deals...Thanks in advance. Paul.

2009 GL550
Just picked up a GL550 on Tuesday. MB Financial lease rates are very good (0.00094 base rate for 36 or 48 months) right now and residuals are tolerable and better than what you will get from banks or other lenders. I was able to get about $4000 below MSRP -- there may be folks who have made even better deals -- I've heard of less than $1000 over invoice, which for my car would be about $79,800. I paid $81,200 on $85,675 MSRP.

I bought my wife a 09 GL550 not too long ago, about when the 09s just hit and I got $6k off, given I paid cash, mine had every available option. I probably got screwed though ....It was either that or the big supercharged range rover, but my wife insisted on the benz (which I cant blame her) sooo here I am.

Sounds like you might be right...But I think you're talking about an 2008 model that you bought after the 2009's came out, right? If not, I wish I would have known ahead of time and I'd have paid you half the difference for you to get me $16K off MSRP

I think you'll find discounts on GL450, vs GL550 vs GL320 vary a lot.

There is a significant difference in pricing for a GL450 and GL550, also what year is yours? I was getting almost $20k off on 08 GL450's.

I just pickup up an 09" GL550 that listed for a little over $87,200...I got it for $81,000....leased out. I'm sure they will get better for the next several months but supply may be tight (color choices) and in my case they covered all remaining lease payments, fees, etc on an ML.

Before making a comment like that it would be nice if you put some pertinent information in your post like did you buy a 2008 leftover which had huge rebates on it from the factory vs. giving this guy misinformation w/ regards to HIS potential 2009 purchase.

You're correct. I stand corrected. Didn't realize you had an 09. Yes, mine was a leftover 08 clearly.

You should keep in mind that your's is a 450 and not a 550. The 450's are a dime-a-dozen compared to the 550 dude.

I just picked up the an 2008 GL550 for $18000 of MSRP yesterday. Last one on the lot (FJ in Newport)

Funny story, needed a new car for upcoming baby. Was initially looking at a Honda Pilot, wife drove the GL450, fell in love with it but not the $60+ pricetag several months ago. Started looking for some used GL's with the options we wanted, running about $45K. Then reading this board, found people getting $16K off MSRP 08's. Found very few GL450 for $52K but not the right color combo. Dealer showed us the GL550, gave us the $18K with the right color combo/options and bought it. Ended up paying $62K for $80K car! :-)

the 2009 is SO much better than the 2008. Better assembly quality (in my opinion), way better nav, available Nappa leather, cooled seats...

Since the 2009's are about 3-4 months into production, if supply holds up, and that's a big IF b/c they probably lowered it when gas was $4-5/gal in July, there should start to be some really good incentives (10% MSRP) around March. The dealer's themselves have up to maybe 5 thousand-ish room on their own but when MBNA gets involved, good things can happen. My wife and I looked at 2008/2009 GL 450/550 from the summer through October, and thought the 09 changes were important.

A FL dealer is already advertising $9000 discount off nicely equipped '09 550s, and I don't believe MBNA has yet offered incentives... hopefully by March/April and not later - I can't wait that much longer! My guess is factory halted production of 550s in December due to dealer buildup, so would this push back '10s to Sept/Oct? or bring it up to July?

Yes, the salesman I was dealing with told me there are no factory incentives yet on the 550. Not sure about factory production and impact on the 09/10 thing but I would guess they'd try to maintain the same intro period as before.
