CPO Pricing

Haven't seen much activity in this forum with regards to CPO pricing/deals lately (early 09) so I thought I'd make one.

Last deal I saw
07 GL450 - $40K asking price disc. from $43K. less than 30K miles
All base options (I don't know all base options)
NAV/heated seats/RES/3rd row climate/100K warranty (whatever that REALLY covers)
No HID or voice command feature but other than that, it was loaded
Dealer would not budge on pricing and they swear it was sold at full asking last time I checked

Not many CPO's coming out right now but we're in the market looking
Anyone else see some great deals?

I would like to think that I could get one equipped identically for $37K

That's nuts!
I would think that with the economy, gas prices back on the rise and existing inventories, these should be heavily discounted.

I guess my cross shopping for R classes lowered my price expectations thinking that the GL's would be slashed as well.
I guess good for current GL owners.

We'll I'll keep my eyes out for them as they continue to start coming off leases.

Well as an update, we looked at some GL's on Carmax's website and they're all in the 40K+ range for 07's. Maybe I had a good deal and let it slip through my fingers because I was being too aggressive on price discounts?

With some new '08 GL450 still be had for $52K, it makes no sense for the '07 with approx 30k miles to be only $10k less... perhaps you should wait until the summer as more 07's come off leases...

If you aren't in a hurry, wait a couple of months. The economy is getting worse, not better.

If you are time sensitive, another strategy is to look into taking over an existing lease. The vehicle is still under warranty, and you have the balance of lease to determine vehicle quality/reliability. When lease expires you can still negotiate with MB financial on the purchase price. Yes, they are negotiating. You end up paying just slightly higher than wholesale auction. Much better value than CPO at dealership!

and just for the record oil closed in at under $38USD today, so get gas if you can wait in a couple of days.

Man I forgot all about that option! We were going to trade in our old SUV which is why we didn't consider this at first but we decided to just sell it PP since it's paid off. We'll take a slight hit on it but we'll get more than what the dealer offered us!

If that scenario plays out, then I'll have to look online for lease assumptions.

Remember The Options.

The number of options on a GL can swing the price. A lot. I took a look at some of Carmax's offerings located around LA. Most of those cars were base model with 0 options (not even P1 package). Base model for 2007 stickered around 55K. So, IMO, 40K+ that Carmax is asking for is not a great deal.

Well we (wife and I) took a look at some lease assumptions and at this point, all I can say is that some people got hosed when they bought. Some of the monthly payments are fairly high, at least higher than what we're willing to pay at this point.

I think our best option is to wait out the market for a bit and see what happens to pricing when gas shoots back up to 3-4 bucks a gallon and the economy spirals evermore into a deep dark pit. I'm sure as more CPO's come along, dealers will be more willing to negotiate.

I'm trying to help out the economy I swear!

07 GL450, 05 Acura TL, 07 Denali (leased)
I recently purchased my first used ride, 07 GL450 for around 38k with 3k down. Altogether, it was around low 41k. It has 39k miles on it, same as my leased '07 Denali that I'm about to turn in. Anyways, it's fully loaded (P1 Package, Entertainment, Off-road, forgot the others) but not CPO. CPO rate would cost me 5k more. I carfax'd the ride and everything was good.

I think you could have gotten a CPO model at that price. I'd be worried with a luxury vehicle that sized being without a warranty. Did you get the bixenon's with it?

I think my only real gripes with the older GL's is the lack of wireless headphones for the RES and finding one with Xenon's
