Controlling the rear entertainment system without remote on an 07 GL450?
I am the proud new owner of a pre-owned 07 GL with the rear entertainment system. After getting the vehicle home and trying to play around with the rear entertainment system I discovered I am missing the remote. I called the dealer and they are going to order a replacement for me, but in the meantime, is there any way to control the rear DVD without the remote.
Based on the user manual, it appears that without the remote you can only turn the screens on and off and adjust the volume (and brightness). But there's no way to press "play" so if I load a DVD, it just sits on the main menu. Surely there has to be a way to perform simple functions without the remote. What am I missing?
Sorry if this has been answered before. I tried searching the forum and couldn't find anything specific to this question.

Not sure if the '07 functions the same as '09, but I can load DVDs in the dashboard CD-slots and via the COMAND system, play the disc - then set that video as the active source for Rear so the DVD also plays on the rear DVDs...useful for road trip with kids when I want multiple movies available and dont want to mess with loading and unloading back DVD one at a time.

The answer is.... Get a remote.
Unfortunately I've not found any way to control the basic functions without a remote. We have a few DVDs that will automatically play, but for ones that require you to select play from the DVD menu, you need the remote (at least on an 07 you do)
I called the dealer and he ordered one for me free of charge. Did you buy your '08 from a dealer or private party. If it's a dealer they should provide one to you free of charge. If it was from a private party, I'm sure a dealer could order one for you.

I have a '10 MB GL350. I don't have the remote for the rear entertainment system. I see people saying you can still turn them on with the command console... How?

Remote for 2007 GL450
You happen' to find those remotes? I'd be interested in purchasing one if so... Just bought a 2007 GL450 and the kids were excited about the rear seat displays - come to find out they don't play anything without the remote.
