'07-'08 GL Lighting Package w/o washer button?
Guys, I've been looking for a GL - preferably GL320 (so if you have one, please PM me
) and have seen several GL's w/ lighting package (bi-xenon + washers) BUT no washer button next to the headlight dial.
Is this even possible? Or is this some kind of retrofit or prior accident?
How do you wash the headlight? Do you need to turn on the wiper & headlight and when you spray your windshield, it'll spray your headlights also?
If you don't know what I mean... see 2 pics below.
See the headlight washers?

And now see the washer button is missing?

Never mind... my bad. It seems the '07 has the button but the '08 doesn't.
Why? So you need to turn on the headlights, wipers and spray your windshield?

No, they changed the 08 (and later models) to have the headlight washers spray every 5 times you spray the windshield. (Don't ask me why)

My W210 E55 sprayed the headlights every windshield spray when headlights are on and wipers are on, if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, thanks for clarifications.... made me confused for a while when looking at the pics.

The W210 had a seperate button on the dash next to the door lock/unlock for the headlight washers. I don't think it was connected with the windshield.

However, on my W140 it would spray the headlights (headlights have wipers with sprayers) when the headlights are on and you activate the sprayer for the windshield.

Does the headlight washer in the GL spray across the entire front of the GL when activiated? My GL320 does not have the headlight sprayer, so I don't know if the spray is contained to the headlight area.
My last car sprayed the headlights after every 5 windshield wipes, and it would drive me crazy if I had just washed the car as the spray went all over the front and about halfway up the hood, pretty much making me need to go get it washed all over again.
It was a feature that really drove me nuts.

For what its worth... I have a 2007 GL WITH the headlight sprayer button...
The headlights are still sprayed every 5th time the windshield sprayer is activated. The button is just a manual override to allow the driver to spray the headlights more frequently if desired.
Anyone with a 2009 GL want to trade me their COMAND system for my headlight sprayer button?

Headlight sprayers are only available if you get lighting package (bi-xenon).
LOL... I do think people value COMAND more than headlight sprayer (or bi-xenon as a matter of fact)
And I don't think the sprayer button is really a plug and play.

Although, it probably would not be that hard to decouple the sprayer relay from the computer and wire it directly to a switch if you wanted to control the headlight sprayers 100% manually.
