Rusty Lug Bolts
Well my lug bolts(08 GL320) have started rusting for the 2nd time. I will have them replaced again under warranty just before it runs out. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. Is there a polished stainless bolt for the factory 18" wheels?

Unreal...
My dad has a ML (98) and same issue - rusty lug nuts after 2-3years.
I have owned a lot of cars, HTF is it that benz can't figure out what the issue is w/ rusty lugs.
Unbelievable.

My lugs are rusty also. 08 GL 320 also.
Seems kinda cheap that they look like galvanized but rust. Looks like they would have some sort of stainless cap to hide them.

I bought some stainless lug bolts for my Porsche since they too got rusty very quickly. They still look like new after a couple of years later. But the place doesn't carry MB parts and are sold out of the Porsche ones.
But I found this place that has chrome lug bolts for less than 2 bucks each.

German environmental legislation has banned the process formerly use to coat nuts and bolts.
Latest BMW motorcycles--where all the nuts/bolts are especially visible--have the same problem.

ahh. mb lugbolts... my favorite. they not only rust, but become fused to the hubs... then it is a matter of brute force (biggest airgun in the shop) and it is a hit or miss (err.. break) taking them off... once they break.. they are a b1tch to drill through, rethread, etc...
i have not seen a solution btw.. that does not mean there isnt one though...

Dealer just replaced mine yesterday under warranty. The service tech just said the Germans don't know how to make non rusting lugs. Sounds like he doesn't know or wont tell what he knows. I thought about the stainless lugs also. Has anyone ordered them yet?
