Question 2010 GL - was a good deal or not ???

I just left the dealership and this is the deal that my friend got.
2010 GL450 / Black * Black / 4200 miles, demo not titled
P2 package / performance appearance package with running boards, 20" wheels / DVD rear entertainment package / ac for third row

the mrsp was $73,000 and invoice was $68,083

he paid $67,500

is this a good deal ???

It is not that great of a deal IMO. I got the similar discount for mine in 2007 and it was brand new with couple of miles only. And the economy was good then.

I just checked the auction numbers (see below) and now I think it was a amazing deal. the 2009's with between 2,800 and 10,000 miles were in the high $68,000 range, then you the fee's on fee's etc.

12/07/09 DFW Factory $71,000 2,828 Above OBS BLK 8G A No
12/07/09 DFW Factory $69,500 4,279 Above BLACK 8G A No
12/07/09 DFW Factory $68,500 11,390 Above ARC WHT 8G A No
12/07/09 DFW Factory $68,000 2,115 Above BLACK 8G A No

Well I just purchased my 350 (more difficult to get and thus less likely to get a deal from a dealer) ; MSRP $67,500K for $62K. and it was new. I also found two weeks ago, a 350 in California with 2200 miles (demo not titled with P2 and RSE) that was $7K below MSRP.
The 450's are more plentiful so you should get at least that % off if not a bit more.

in south florida there is an issue with getting black / black anything and the 350's are very hard to find. So the deal is $7k below MRSP, which seems fair based on what I have seen - no ????

So are you saying that because he is in South Florida and the car is black/black it is more valuable?
It is NOT a new car, it has 4200 miles on it. It IS a second hand car that has not been titled.
It would be perfectly possible to find this car, new, and get $6K off so what you are saying is that he (or you?) saved $1K because it had 4200 miles. think about your numbers ........
And how do you do your math???? $73K - $67,5 = $5,500 ........ not $7,000???
Seems like you had made your mind up before posting anyway.

MSRP $70,000 and paid $63,000 for a new GL450 in 2007. The SUV was purchased in July 2007. Honestly for a demo your friend should of gotten more discount. But as long he is happy with his purchase there is no need to dwell on the price after the fact.

All good points
in regards to the black / black. I was just saying that supply and demand makes it a little harder to get and therefore dealers are less excited about discounting the suv.

Also from what I understand Mercedes built less cars in order not to get stuck with inventory at the end of the year.

The truck was not for me. It really was for a friend and I was there while discussing numbers.

My mind was not made up prior to posting. So it seems that he got a good deal but not a great deal. Anyway. Everyone is happy for the hoildays and it is a amazing truck.

Thanks for your input I was just curious
