305/40/22 Too big for GL450?

Hi Everyone,

I need some help here. I remember i read here somewhere someone had 305/40/22 on the GL and it fits and does not have any problem. Can someone verified this and confirm this fitment please.

I know 285/40/22 is the perfect fit but I'm afraid it might be a bit ruff on the ride and the last thing I want to hear from my wife is "Too rough"

Will 305/40/22 be ok and still look great without the 4x4 look?

Any comments and suggested will be great.

Thanks

Yep saw it in Vegas at a car show. They took off the airmatic and put a full suspension lift kit on it. Couldn't believe my eyes!!!

I have! 22 x 10 ET 65 with 15mm spacers = ET 50 with 305/40 22, minimal rubbing on one side, but i think this is due to an earlier accident i had with the car. But it all depends on your offset, it has to be ET 50 otherwise it will hit a part of the air suspension. Attached is a picture of the issue without the 15mm spacers.
Only issue is the massive weight of the brabus rims and the tires.
In this thread there are pictures of my car

305/40/22's work fine. Make sure the offset is 50 or less. Mine rubbed very slightly for a few weeks on the back of the fender liner when I was turning slowly into and out of parking spots. It does not rub anymore.

The car handles so much better now with the 305's. Mileage is down a little bit but the 305/22's are less expensive and have higher treadwear ratings than the stock 19" tires. I have around 30,000 miles on mine and they should last another 30,000 miles before needing replacement.
