08 GL550 to 11 GL350 Bluetec? Please advise

08 GL550 to 11 GL350 Bluetec? Please advise
Hello,
my wife currently drives the 2008 GL550 which i bought new at that time. It now has about 35,000 km on it.
I saw a new 2011 GL350 Bluetec at the local dealer in white with the Premium and Sports Package (21" AMG Wheels, Fender Flares like the 550 has). It's a beautiful car.
My wife doesn't really need the power of the 550, as it was initially my vehicle and I gave it to her when I got my E63 AMG.
If I trade it in for the Diesel, the dealer wanted a difference of 22,000 $. I managed to talk them into $16,000.00 difference. Is that a good deal, and should I go for it? My GL550 is pretty much fully loaded, other than Distronic.
Any advice appreciated.

I just bought a flawless CPO 08 GL550 for $55K from dealer with a lot of inventory that he needed to move... that would be the low price for the 08 (22k miles)

Pulled the trigger and went for it! No more GL550 
Makes me sad in a way, as it was a trouble free SUV since day one, and I normally do not trade "down" on models....
However given the fact that my wife will be the main driver of the GL350 and we do quite a bit of Highway driving, it made sense.
First Impressions: Acceleration is nowhere close to the 550. Not sure how the fuel consumption will be, but the computer is showing 11.7 L/100 km average for the first 400 km.
I do love the Diamond White color. It has a presence that our Cubanite silver 550 didn't have it seems. We also came from a black interior in the 550 to a tan in the new one. The biggest seller for me was the appearance identical to the 550 (fender flares, 21" wheels, etc. - other than the grill).
Mods: I did order the chrome hood fins. I also debaged it for a clean look.

I'm guessing the environmental impact of buying a new GL is just a *bit* more than keeping an existing one that gets worse mileage. Neither option is exactly saving the earth.

The picture is me driving the C63 at the Mercedes Benz Driving Academy where I also got to drive the CLS63, E63, C63, and the SLK55 AMG's on the track.
