Buying GL 450

Hello everyone ..
I just bought a 2007 GL 450 with 34000 miles for a $30900 (good deal?) and i am shipping it to Europe to my country the Czech republic , but not sure if my Navigation is going to work and the radio , i know the sat radio will not work here but not sure about the rest .
Can anyone tell me if i need to buy a new navigation system or do i just need a dvd with Europe maps ?
thanks

As for the radio, I believe they use the same frequencies in the Czech Republic as they do in the US for FM. However, your radio is not set up for short-wave radio and I don't know if they have AM stations in your country. Plus the weather radio broadcast stations on the NAV are based on US frequencies.

Anyone else who has more technical knowledge of this besides me? And anyone else on the NAV?

The price you paid seems very reasonable. What kind of savings are you getting from buying it in the US and exporting it?

Well I would guess that the DVD will only play Region 1 DVDs. And unless there is some kind of jamming the GPS itself will work, which would lead me to believe that a NAV DVD would take care of it. But there may be a problem if you need the menus and such in your own language. And I don't know if that means trying to put in locations won't work because it won't be using the same alphabet.

I would ask a service person, but it sounds a little to me like you would have to change out the entire system. At that point, you are better off forgetting about the NAV and putting one of those new Garmins or TomTom units on your windsheild.

Mostly in Europe the Gl model is either 320cdi or 420cdi, having a gasoline suv is not a good idea here ,because the prices are so high, but i am thinking of adding a LPG tank so i could run on liquid gas instead of the gasoline , which will save some money .But to tell you the truth everything is so expensive here that it makes me sick , i buy almost everything i can form the US . Don't understand why dose a GL 320 cost 30% more than in the US and most EU Gl models don't have the sunroofs ,No power lift gate, no Harmen kardon no reversing camera .Fuel cost is about 6.75 per Gallon,Oil change at a Benz dealer about $400 , Warranty is something that dealers laughs about after you buy a new car and try to fix something on their expanse.
So to answer your question about the saving , i am getting an SUV that has more options than what i could buy here and still save money, because if i took the same money i paid for the Gl i would not get even 2009 nicely equipped Vw Passat .

From what I remember, you will have to exchange the complete command or head unit to a European spec'd one in order for it to work in Europe.

Yes, this is correct.

You are right about the price in the USA. The problem is not that it costs more where we live, they used to give stuff away for US dollars, but that is changing. All of our money is worth more, it makes stuff look cheaper in the USA. Due to the situation over there, local prices have not adjusted yet, making them even cheaper to us than the pure currency differential.
