2010-2011 GL350CDI

I have a 2008 GL320CDI which had an EPA sticker fuel consumption rating of 18/24 (which I'm easily exceeding to the positive), now in comparing it to the MB published data for the 2010 GL350bluetec, I see the new models literally have the same engine and essentially same torque (notwithstanding Adblue, emissions mods, etc), but only have a fuel rating of 17/21.

If I read this correctly, there's been a significant 12.5% fuel consumption decrease.......

Out of curiosity, what kind of MPG's have the Bluetec diesel owners been experiencing?

Our '11 GL350 has just over 500 miles on it and we are averaging 24mpg on the highway at 65-70mph. I'll post the city+hwy mpg once I fill up the tank. I'm still on the original tank of gas!

The US government changed the way the EPA numbers worked out a couple of years ago. Same engine, same consumption, new numbers. There are threads out there about it.

With about 7000 miles on the odometer and a mix of city and highway (southern California) driving I have averaged 22.6 mpg.

I have over 5500 miles on my 2010 and my average is over 22 mpg in combined driving. I also go 700 miles between fill-ups. The only problem is if I run it too low, the credit card driven pumps seem to cut off at $75. With current prices around $3.15 in my area, $75 doesn't quite fill the tank.

I am averaging 25.2 mpg since I purchased it 11,550 miles ago. And I can get as much as 28 mpg on the highway averaging 67 mph.

I have 630 miles on my 2011 GL 350 and strictly in town driving am averaging 21 MPG. No road trips yet. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does on the road. I previously had an 08 GL 320 CDI and averaged 20.0 in town and about 25 on the road at 80 MPH. I understand the government changed the way they checked milage and the MPG numbers dropped somewhat from 2008 and beyond I believe.

EPA did indeed change the methodology and you can look up the revised figures at their website.

In addition, the newer models are called 350 because they're tuned to produce more horsepower. More horsepower = more fuel usage.

In NYC 2010 GL350 is getting 18.3 in real stop and go. If its early morning and no traffic, I get up to 20. something. On a run to Annapolis, MD driving in my usual exuberant style 75-80 bursts to close to 90 about 25.5. The overall average is the same, 18.3 after close to 11,000 miles.

This is driving what I call normally in real stop and go traffic in Staten Island which is a damn light or stop sign every few blocks. I just paid $3.05 in Perth Amboy to fill up. Love the mileage! My 95 M3 got down to about 16.3 on the commute and about 24 highway driven the same way. I find I can average more miles quicker with the GL because of the driver comfort factor not to mention the unnecessary stops for fuel. I'm lovin this vehicle

After 1,400 miles, I am averaging 20.6 MPG with 70% local and 30% highway driving. This is with the wife doing majority of the driving. It sure beats 14 MPG with our '09 GL450.
