Passenger side mirror tilt function in '09 GL550?

I've searched up & down for this. However I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know if the '09 comes equiped with the reverse "tilt" mirror?

Thank you in advance!

Happy New Year,

Lance

Same issue

I have and '08 320, and I am also unable to set this up... Every car with electric and folding mirrors should have this function, yet even the dealer couldn't make it tilt when reversing.

Not sure about a 550, but my '09 450 did not have the mirror tilt function. Our '11 350 has this function; it must only be for the later models. Personally, I could care less but the wife seems to like it.

This and a few other "convenience" features have been the subject of a couple of threads here. The first thing we were told was the mirror dip was removed because it might confuse people. (What?) Then that the driver's seat exit (where the seat rolls back a couple of inches when you remove the key, when the steering wheel rises) also might frighten or concern owners, and if they were grandparents with very young children who were taken out of their seat and put directly behind the driver's seat, with the door closed I assume, they could be harmed by the seat moving backwards. Honestly, I heard that one from the service department at the dealership where I bought the truck. New.

All you have to do is have the passenger mirror button lit up before you put the truck in reverse and the mirror tilts down.....

My '07 has the mirror curb tilt feature along with the steering wheel tilt feature.

The Mirror Curb-Tilt Feature is activated by shifting into reverse and selecting the right mirror button on the drivers door. You can then adjust the position of the mirror to see the right rear tire. This allows you see exactly where the curb is when parallel parking to avoid scuffing the tire sidewalls or wheels. When you place the vehicle in Drive the mirror resets to its original position. The Curb-Tilt position is saved so every time you shift to reverse it adjusts to the same position. To turn the feature off shift into reverse and press the drivers mirror button. The mirror will return to it's original position.

This Feauture however needs to be enabled in one of the command menus. The dealer should be able to help you with that.

My '08 does NOT have it either. I tried about 10 times by following the notes on this board as well as the online manual instructions. It either is not available on my car or I'm a moron - either is possible I suppose.

Perhaps in a STAR menu but not on my COMAND. If you know which menu item where needs to be adjusted, that would help. Several long, serious discussions on how it was difficult or impossible to find have been had on this board, starting many years ago. If there's new information out there on it, I'd appreciate it as I don't have the backup camera and it'd be nice to be able to see the curb sometimes.

Thanks,

STP

Thank you! I thought the Curb-Tilt Feature just stopped working. Didn't realize you have to have that mirror selected on the door.

The presence/absence of the reverse gear/right side mirror tilt could be related to a package or option. I have it in mine (2010 550). It works as described - the right mirror button must be selected when the car is in reverse. The position of the mirror is memorized with the rest of the seat and steering wheel positions.

My build sheet has the following mirror related build codes:

249 INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR MIRROR,AUTOMATICALLY DIMMING
275 MEMORY PACKAGE (DRIVER SEAT, STRG. COL., MIRROR)
500 ELECTRIC FOLDING OUTSIDE MIRROR
P49 MIRRORS PACKAGE

The tilt feature is available after 2010.
