Help me choose between 2 wheels
Tires will be 295/45-20
20x10 ET50 37lbs per wheel
Has 15% higher load rating, but heavier higher chance of curbing the wheel because it's wider and my wife will be the primary driver.
or
20x9 ET50 31lbs per wheel
Has 15% lower load rating, but 6lbs lighter per corner and less of a chance of curbing because the tire will stick out a half inch more.
Thoughts?

Gotta think about the mission, then. Car shows, impress neighbors, handling? We're talking about the same tires, right? I would guess the 10's would be a closer match to that width, don't count on the sidewalls to save your wheels from your wife...

Also, I read that my brake pads would wear faster.
The only positive about heavier wheels is that they tend to absorb the road better for a smoother ride.
So I'm leaning towards the lighter wheels at the moment.

I thought you had 18's? There seem to be way more tires for that size now, then there were a couple of years ago.
The only thing I'm thinking is that 9" is about as narrow I would go with that tire. Maybe even check with hankook. 300mm is 12 inches, so 295 on a rim that narrow @ sub 50 profile might pull the sidewall in too much. I'm assuming you have bought the tires?

Very happy with my choice. Pleasantly surprised the wheels weighed 34.6lbs on my scale. 1025KG max load, 20x10 ET50. The wheels actually sit pretty wide despite the 50 offset. I was hoping the tires would have been wider compared to the wheels, leaving more protection against curbing but oh well. Hankook Ventus RH06 295/45/20s. My wife actually noticed how much better the truck handled on these wheels. The car feels a lot more planted, less "bouncy", more steadfast on the curves and on the highway. No vibrations or anything to speak of.

Nice looking wheels, ddcha! 10" width with 50 offset is the perfect combination. I also have 10" (x22) with 50 offset but wrapped with slightly larger 305 tires so I do have slightly more protection for my rims than yours.

Thanks folks. I bought them from oemwheelsplus.com for an amazing $819 shipped. I know this wheel style is pretty common, but it is less common to find them with a 1025kg max load rating. Ebay has a bunch that are 20x9.5 et45, but those are 790kg.
They have an Audi R8 style wheel for our cars, but I didn't go with them because they had no max load rating stamped on the back and I wasn't going to simply take someone's word for it.

I was looking at new wheels for my GL450 and thought that the 20" wheels still looked a little too small the the truck, especially with thinner spoke style wheels. I ended up going with these 22" wheels from Jerry at formymercedes.com with 285/40R22 Yokahama tires. Definitely took some of the wallow out of the handling. They are load rated for 960KG which is plenty for the gl.

ddcha, as promised a few pics of the 22" setup. Very poor quality due to hastily taken pics from my BB. Official pics to come after a few more mods: lowering module, illuminated running boards LED kit, rear spoiler (still debating on this one), wood steering wheel, Brabus aluminum door look pins.

So I took a relatively long roadtrip last week. And I'm not sure if it's vibration or if it's simply just more road feedback due to lower profile and wider wheels. I've taken the wheels back to where I had them balanced. He checked them all and they are in good shape. Wheels are all hubcentric. The steering wheel vibrates slightly more than it used to, but I wouldn't call it a shimmy. I just notice my watch shaking a little more than it used to. Anyone else who upsized from 18 inch stockers notice a similar issue?

Anyone experiencing modest vibrations at 65-75mph, check your tire pressure. Looks like my tire guy had 45psi in the back and 42psi in the front, which is way too high for our vehicles. After reducing to 35 in the front and 37 in the rear, vibrations are gone.
