Gas tank does not fill up fully
I have filled my 2011 350 twice so far.
Both the times, I have noticed that the filling stops just after the 3/4 mark but never reaches the 'full' mark.
Does anyone else see this in GLs?
The range immediately after filling shows approx 550 miles.

Is the pump turning off at a predetermined $ amount like $75. I have to restart the pump to get up to $100.00. Or is the diesel foaming?

Also, when filling the second time, I noticed that towards the end, the pump 'slowed down' the flow for about 10 seconds and then shut off.
I know that lots of diesel is sold (at least in the second pump) because it is in an upscale locality and I have noticed new diesel vehicles being filled there.
Edit:
-----
I just went thro my credit card statement. First fill was for 79.75 and the second was for $80.00! Weird that the second fill was fully 'rounded'. It could be that the gas station has programmed auto shutoff at $80...
I will have to check this out on my third fill in a couple of weeks.

If it happens to you again, just get your receipt and start the fill process all over again. Once the tank is almost full the nozzle will click off due to the diesel foam. (Diesel ALWAYS foams, low sulfur or not - doesn't make any difference.) SLOWLY fill the filler pipe to the brim. You now have a new starting point for determining your mileage.
Do NOT let the station attendant tell you to stop after the nozzle first clicks off - that rule is ONLY for gas, not diesel. If you don't pay attention to that for a gasser, the vapor canister gets liquid gas in it and the emissions system reacts badly. Diesels don't have a vapor canister therefore it isn't an issue at all.

Just to add to what fourdiesel mentioned, after the pump first shuts off, you should be able to put another 2-3 gallons of diesel in by pumping slowly (learned from fourdiesel's and other's posts on this site, thanks guys). Hold the nozzle so you can see inside the filler neck, slow down or stop when it starts to froth and then resume. A full tank will hold around 30 gallons of diesel. Great for long trips.

My Mobil station used to limit fuel purchases to $75 (now it is up to $100 given the price run up of diesel). On one occasion the pump stopped at $75 and so I restarted it again to add another $3-$4 to completely fill the tank. Anyway, 15 minutes later I went to use my credit card again at another store and the sale was blocked because my card company thought there was fraud involved. Apparently the pattern of charges and the back to back fuel purchases suggested a stolen card. A phone call and several minutes on hold to speak to a "live" person solved the problem. I guess these credit card companies really keep a close eye on us which is both good and bad. Just thought i chime in.

Yes, it is a GSD, here is the rest of him. He normally rides in the ML and not the GL since I am **** retentive and only want to have to worry about one vehicle with hair and drool. Before I get comments yes I know

Same experience here - when diesel went up to $4.69 here in California a 25 gallon full fill-up from nearly empty costs about $117. The Shell station I use won't dispense more than $100 at a time - so like the others I had to run my credit card a second time to add the extra $17 worth to get all the way full.
I'd also bet money the original poster was going to a station with a $75 limit. $75 will buy you about 65% of a tank at $4.69, so the numbers add up that this would get him to the 3/4 mark.
PS - I remember the first time it cost more than $25 to fill up my old jeep. I clearly remember thinking "what a total ripoff"...

Yup, looks like the station has a limit. I am going to fill up tomorrow and ask the attendant whether they have limits.
