Need help finding illumination kit for running boards on my11 GL350
Looking for the kit, can someone help me out and also if anyone had it installed by the dealer what was the cost for the illumination kit and labor?

This is a factory option so you won't find many dealers stocking this kit. I managed to get a set from Jerry at formymercedes.com although it's not something he sells. There is only a handful of these kits available anywhere so chances are you won't see a GL with these lights. I have just one word to describe the LED kit at night: AWESOME! The LED's are wired to the rear dome light so they illuminate when you open doors or with key fob. One cool thing is you can turn on rear dome light while driving and the LED's would come on as well...although I rarely do this. 
As for installation.....I had an independent MB shop install them and it's not cheap. I don't want to know what the dealer would charge.

Dealers do stock the kit - I put them on mine. You'll need to remove the running board sills (not difficult) and then drill holes according to the template. Then remove inner splash shields on rear wheels and drop rear bumper. Then. wire, connect and connect to fuse box. To get at the fuse box you need to do a bit of removal of items.. lower cargo area, sub woofer etc.
Best thing is to phone around dealers and see who can order for you or may stock.

Thanx guys... i had my dealer order them for me(right now on back order) they are 450 plus 500 for instalation. Cant wait untill they come...

Nice!!! Got the kit installed finnally and it looks awesome...
just got one question, when the car is running and I open the door the kit does not light up? Car has to be off and than it lights up either when I open any door or press open/close on the remonte control...

When engine is running and car is in P, lights will also be activated if you open any door either from inside or out.
Whenever your interior lighting is on the RB LED's will also be on.
Did you have the lights wired to the rear dome so that you have the option of having them on while driving?

Dealer (Benzel Bush in Engelwood NJ)ordered and installed my ilumination kit. Try calling mbpartsonline.com because i know my dealer got the kit from them. I waited about 3 weeks for the kit and than a day for installation. If your dealer gets them for you can you please ask them to give you the copy of the installation instructions i would really appreciate this.
I have an IOU from a dealer on this kit. I just bought a GL450 and asked the dealer to put it in the car.
He said the part is on a back order.

jus ordered the kit im getting it installed at the bottom of the Side stepper... i dont like the stock location ....also running them to the ambience lighting...so they will work like my Brabus puddle package ..onn dim at night n brighter when you open the door...off in the day time...post pics once it back on...
