MB iPad Charging Dock
I finally got my hands on the OEM iPad Charging dock that mounts behind the headrests for the GL.
Apparently they just started shipping and these were the first set that the local dealer had sold.
Anyone have the dealer install instructions for these? They didn;t come with the install instructions, and the dealer wasn't able to locate them.
Anyone else successfully install these yet?

The retail is about $460 for one. I negotiated it down to $350 per dock.
I am having the dealer install one to see how it goes. The specified labor was 3 hours! If the first one rocks, we'll look at the 2nd side.

Includes the power hook ups to both as well? Sorta Spendy, but I if it includes the power...that's nice. I hope the labor was included in the $350??

$350 was the price for just ONE dock. No install. ($460 retail)
The dock includes power via a powered USB port.
The install ended up taking 2 hours for one side. Although the recommended labor is 3, so FYI.
Now that I have one installed, I will do the 2nd myself as a DIY. It wasn't too tricky and now I have one to model against.
I'll post pictures later.

Can you please post some pictures with iPads installed?
I've been waiting for this one for long time. BTW, is it just for charging or do they have any integration so you can control it from console too (I doubt it though )

iPad Docks
Lots of good questions:
1) They install on the seat behind the headrest
2) They have no integration with the head unit / stereo
3) They only have power built in, with a USB port on the side that allows you to plug in a apple USB cable to allow you to charge your iPad
4) Installation is very simple. The seat back plastic is removed, you cut a hole for the mounting plate, you connect the harness, and your done. Its about 2 hours if you do it carefully / slowly.
I'll dig up the part #'s. But they are specific to the year of your car and iPad.
Mine will be for a GL, I have one for an iPad 1 and one for iPad 2.
Let me dig for those tonight.

Thanks for good information.
Have you taken any pictures while you were installing? otherwise, can you post some pictures of it without iPad so I can see (maybe) where to drill a hole?
BTW, once you put iPads in docking station, can it be secured by a lock or key or some mechnism?
Thanks again.
