Break wear light

Break wear light
Break wear light just came on on my 07, GL with 65k miles. How long can I go without replacing them? Looks like I'm going to need All 4 rotors and pads. Any suggestions for less dusty break pads/rotors or I should stick with the OEM?

They should last 100K unless you are changing pads at 35K miles and then they should go to 70K. No reason you can't go through two sets of pads unless you let the pad wear completely down where it scores the rotor.

Of my four Benzes, only one is above 100k miles and all of them have had their rotors replaced at least once. I do brake servicing whenever the idiot light comes on.

Waiting for the idiot light to come on is too late. That may be why you are replacing rotors too soon. They may be getting scored and can become unusable. If you keep an eye out for wear, you can really extend the life of the rotors. Also, driving style has a huge impact on pad and rotor wear.
I've got 120K on my original rotors and they are still going strong. I should be able to get another 5K out of them before needing to be swapped. The 22" wheels require a little more effort to stop so I'd imagine they cut around 10K out of the rotor and pad life.
Before replacing the rotors. Have the thickness measured. If they are withing spec and not scored, just put pads on and you are good to go. Should save you at least $600.

Since no one answered your questions. My brake light came on about 3 weeks ago. I am hoping to drive another 1500 miles before changing out the rotors and pads. Since my car will be just turning 75k, I am going with the Balo rotors and Akebono pads. I purchased everything from partsgeek.com.
Depending on your driving style, you can go anywhere from 1k to 2k miles before you start hearing metal on metal.

Thanks BlownV8 I'll keep an eye on them. And my driving style is basically anti braking- so I know that's not it.
