2010 GL350 oil leaks - fixed

I have been noticing drops of oil on the garage floor, not serious maybe a couple of drops each week. Since my car lease is coming up in a couple of months, really want to keep the car so try to fix every little things and then decide. I have performed all services myself, really getting to know this diesel engine with 33k miles. Took the car in a week ago and showed the picture of stains on the floor. SA took the car in to check for leaks on both steering columns and engine. Found nothing on steering but confirmed leaks from engine. Pickup the car today and SA showed me the long list of 19 gaskets and seals, as well as the oil cooler being replaced. The culprit was the leak from oil cooler located between cylinder heads bolted to the top of the engine block. SA mentioned they used dye to locate the leaks. They also did the multi point inspections and corrected tire pressures, reset TPMS etc. Everything was under warranty $0 cost. Question: What else should I consider before deciding to keep the car? From the price point it is to my advantage to buy back with $33.6k + tax.

GL 350 oil leak

My GL 350 diesel just got service repair at 60,000 miles. Same problem. $2100 repair out of warranty. To the credit of MB, they are taking some financial responsibility, but I am wondering how many others have had the same issue? Only 60,000 miles? We had noticed earlier that the cooling fan seemed to run on for unexpectedly long times, but the service department said that was normal. Now I wonder if that was a early symptom of this problem. The question of fan time was asked while the car was still within the 50,000 mile warranty period.

I have the exact same situation on a 2012 GL @49k miles. I had noticed earlier that the cooling fan kept runnjng even under cold weatger times, but the service department said that was normal.

Can you provide any follow up. How is s the car doing now????

control valve 642 010 18 91

Actually my cooling fan was running for long time regularly as well before the leak fix, forgot to mention that on my original post. After the fix my cooling fan only run once every few months.

Last month when I brought my car to an indy to replace the engine mounts, the mechanic told me there is still some leaks but I have never noticed any leak on my garage floor so I guess is not serious. The indy mechanic told me Mercedes has redesigned the control valve 642 010 18 91 to prevent such leak. I asked my SA and he said no such thing. Not sure who is right.

How many miles do you have now rich? What other problems has your car had. I have had front control arms, steering column rebuilt and now oil cooler leak. I am guessing the struts are coming soon.

It's around 56k miles now and there were quite a few things replaced since:

2 Engine mounts and a transmission mount ($800 Indy)
Rear Left turn signal the whole panel ($450 Indy)
Lift gate opener ($300 DIY)
Heat coil control unit (Warranty)

So you did not buy the extended warranty I guess. I am debating it. The dealership has been very nice so far.

Given what I know about my GL350 now I should have considered the extended warranty to 100k miles. Not sure how much that would cost. I just love this truck on my weekly commute of 200 miles with average 26-28 mpg. It's great able to take 5+ adults to lunches regularly. I am taking my chances for not having extended warranty. Even a good indy still pretty costly and hope I come up even for the next few years.
