CPO warranty no longer covers Air Suspension GL450
Today I bought a 2012 GL450 with 16,000 miles at Mercedes of Chandler in Arizona (Penske) and at the paperwork phase I was informed (by finance manager) that Mercedes Certified Preowned warranty no longer covers Air Suspension on GL series.
They took off the pre owned Certified warranty from negotiated car price (saved $1205) and I decided to buy extended warranty after market. Can you tell me which company has the best coverage/deal?
They were trying to sell me aftermarket through Penske "united auto care" 5 years 75000 for $5000 which the said covers Air Suspension. Anyone have experience with extended warranty and the ones that actually replace the air suspension.
Thanks
Mike

I bought a CPO 2009 GL550 last week and the CPO covers everything, I just read it again to make sure and does cover air suspension.
I would check with another source to verify.

Does your paperwork say same?
This is interesting, I'm wondering if they told me it was not covered to make me buy the aftermarket Extended warranty and cancel the CPOW...
Anyone else have info on this...

I was kind of surprised that they told me it did not cover, as the first finance manager told me it was covered, and the second one told me it wasn't. Here is the contract paperwork on the CPO warranty they gave me of exclusions. See point 2, Shock Absorbers / Suspension Struts

I think I got screwed by Mercedes of Chandler in Arizona. I see what they did, the packet they gave me, they failed to include page 3 of the Items Covered which specifically lists "Air Suspension Struts". They flashed the first page on my face and said "see, it says Suspension struts are not covered", Just googled the entire contract and on page 3 (which they did not give me) it lists Air Suspension as covered! What a scam...Is this legal?

I would just go straight to the manager and tell them you were misled and make a big deal about, trust me they will work it out.

Here is what they did...they pulled a fast one. They made me decline the pre-owned certified warranty certificate on the gl450 ( cost $1205, part of negotiated price) then they told me since air suspension is not covered under mercedes CPO and therefore it was not worth it to pay for it and I should get the Penske plan that included the air suspension. I was so frustrated that told them i did not want the penske plan for $5000 and so they took off $1205 from my negotiated price (cost of certified preowned certificate)
As of now All I have is 1 year left on new car warranty and car is no longer certified pre owned since they made me believe pre-cert was not covering air suspension. Should I go back and get the mercedes CPO certificate on the car having still 1 year new car warranty left on it...if I do I have to pay $1205 extra and it gives me 1 extra year of cpo warranty....or should I get after market warranty...

I just came across this topic. Not sure what you did but I would for sure pick up the cpo wjth the additional 1 year. There are some limitation to the warranty (cpo) but it still will be best.
I just had my passenger side air suspension fixed under the cpo.

Airmatic issues are covered under CPO
Had my front left unit replaced under CPO in Oct at my dealer.
Sounds like they pulled a fast one on you. Ouch...
BTW, my car had they CPO when purchased, and I asked and paid an extra $2400 to extend it for another 2 yrs. For me, that is superior to getting a 3rd party plan, even if they offer many more years for same price--not worth dealing with a 3rd party claim adjuster.

Sounds like that dealer pulled a fast one on you. I bought a 2011 CPO and it is covered just like the original warranty. What a POS dealer to try and trick you into something else. Just goes to show some dealers will do anything for a buck.

2004 S55 (SOLD, miss it every day), 2009 GL550
My experience with GL CPO this summer was that there is an error in the language find online, and that all four corners are covered. This is for a 2009 GL550 that I purchased online from MB in Del Ray Beach FL. It arrived and satisfactorily passed a PPI (with all defects fixed by MB). 2 months later it failed a state inspection due to leaking rear suspension. At first my local MB (Chantilly, VA) refused to cover under CPO because the piece that was leaking was a SHOCK ABSORBER and not the gas strut. Yes, that's right, there are two shock absorbers in a 2009 GL550, and shocks are specifically excluded. After several days of driving their loaner while various levels and departments of MBUSA discussed amongst themselves, they determined that the parts should have been listed as covered. They ended up covering the replacement and ensured me that it was not a goodwill coverage but a CPO coverage, and that future replacements will also be covered.
Of course, your mileage may vary...
Also please note that both dealerships were extremely helpful and patient, and worked with and for me to help this reach a favorable conclusion, and I am very grateful!

Air struts covered?
I just purchased a 2008 GL550 with 80k miles. Less than two months into it, the air struts started to leak. Maybe they did so before but it took me this long to notice. I bought the extended warranty which says "struts" are covered. But when I took it into the dealer they said they called the MasterTech Warranty and were told it's not covered. Can this be true? Are they usually not covered? I feel ripped off!

BLACK 2014 ML550 / WHITE 2014 ML63
A few days ago, I took my wife's 2010 GL 450 to the dealer to diagnose a check engine. I got a loaner and went home. Within just a few hours on a late afternoon, I was informed that I needed a Thermostat at $680 for parts and labor. As a loyal customer, I asked for any discounts available. The service rep took $70 off. I was expecting to pay this amount, but not for a thermostat. Something nudged me to open my extended warranty booklet call my extended warranty agent. To my amazement, we purchased the platinum warranty. Its the closest that we could get to a new car warranty. Yes even the thermostat. Our cost for the warranty $2800 w/$250 deductible For 36 months or 36000 miles. Per vehicle(2010 450 and 2011 550). We only put 8000 miles a year on our vehicles. I said all of that to say that ALMOST EVERYTHING is covered.

Is.Mastertech a warranty company or parts company?

I just got rid of my 2008 GL. I bought the Mercedes extended warranty. it definitely covered the air suspension. I used it on more than one occasion. The same is true for the CPO warranty.
